Newcomers will need a nice ease into Scooby Doo. Zombie Island is an amazing movie but you need the context to get it well. (also Billy West Shaggy is a bit odd). Lots of people are suggesting Camp Scare, which isn't too terrible but has the same issue. Too much is going on in Camp Scare for you to not know the gang previously. I would totally evaluate seeing an episode from one of the series before a movie that way they aren't turned off by something like Reluctant Werewolf or confused by something like Witch's Ghost. As for a series, It's probobly best to start classic. Where Are You seems cliche to say but I think that's well on the money considering everything else has weird guest stars or Scrappy. The revival series are nice, but might reference classic stuff that your friend might not pick up on. Best of luck getting them to nerd levels.

Hopefully it ends quickly so we can get the new series. Be Cool is pretty childish; and while the last thing we need is an adult series, Pup Named was more mature than this. I can't take a show seriously if I'm supposed to be laughing every minute, and I can't laugh every minute if most of the jokes aren't funny. Rightinthetockles, I think we have to keep in mind that Scooby is a kids show, so it kind of makes sense that it would be written as such. I found BCSD to be very funny and the writing was great! What is your favorite Scooby series? I can't choose an overall favorite, while some series are better than others I think they do well in their own merits; and that's what really counts. If I were to make a favorites list though Be Cool would be near if not the bottom, and if you'll hear me out you might just see it too. Jon Colton Barry is a talented writer, and his work on Phineas and Ferb is no doubt very important to entertainment. But what separates the genius of Phineas and Ferb and the confusion of Be Cool is how the comedy and narrative aspects are blended. The narrative in Phineas and Ferb is about learning and how learning helps us mature (or helps your mind be erased by your own pet). In the movie this was done with making Perry's side-story which was previously established and forms it into an actual plot driver. In the case of Be Cool, when the time does come for narrative, characters are pulled seemingly from nowhere and there isn't any buildup. I can't feel anything for Fred when he lets his dad take the Mystery Machine because Professor Huh is has no previous establishment; I as a viewer have no connection so I can't be immersed into the story. Phineas and Ferb had a colossally larger writing team, but you don't necessarily need a squad of authors to make a flowing story next to a quick paced comedy. It's probobly not entirely Barry's fault and I certainly wouldn't blame someone; but the connection to humor and plot clearly needed improvement. When I refer to "childish writing", I don't mean the demographic of the viewers; I mean that Be Cool could have been tons better than it was if it was taken a bit more seriously. Yes, Scooby Doo is a kids show, but that doesn't mean I give it a handicap when I critique it on lazy writes. Scooby Doo is also Scooby Doo, and I believe such a big name deserves better.

So, that's a script for the new scooby series? What's it say? I didn't think it'd be a follow up on MI series, that was a completely other dimension, Shaggy and the others didn't have the normal parents or families and they didn't live in the usual city. I don't want it to honestly. I'd love it continued from 13 ghosts with it's original Animation. I'd love another shaggy and scooby solo series. All that's for sure is the name "Guess Who?" but the name could change in time. I don't think there's any big leaks unfortunately.

If Fred knows Professor Huh his dad why is he running from him? Rose literally has no mention outside the series finale much less any build-up so all of her scenes felt very tired. On top of that, it tries to keep the comedy aspect that Be Cool is so honored for. It doesn't mix well when the episode is too busy trying to get me to care about Fred and his 3rd dad. On the flip side, Professor Huh on his own is a neat character, and exactly lives up to his name. Not too fond of the self-destruct lama though. All the other parts where either very minor or very meh, it was a good run Barry you tried.

Some genuinely good moments, I might finish watching it but the rareness of good moments makes it hard to sift. Attachments:

The problem is virtually every single iteration of SD DOES try something new and the fans scream bloody murder. Maybe instead, the Scooby team could try and be more like the classics it harkens back to, maybe even re-define the classics?

That's a bit negative. I don't think everyone hated Be Cool's artstyle, especially if your point is true. The revival series hasn't really been around long enough to make a hard enough impression, if you look at the timeline there's only been five shows and I totally agree they tried something new in their own merits all of which had positives (PN- adorable animation WN- modernization of characters and plot GaC- was bad enough to learn from MI- lack of anachronic story BC- well rounded comedy) and all of which had negatives (PN- turned out childish WN- hasty animation GaC- didn't present brand well MI- very ship heavy BC- rapid pace) but I believe that there has been a level of fear for changing things too much, and I think this holds them back from changing enough.

I like it. It's what they wanted to do in 2002, except it actually works.

Not too fond of the squirrel stuff, is it going to weave into SA's story eventually?

I like that we got some backstory, but they're still stuck in the tree! At least Scooby ain't dead.

Dum had some good lines, but I think he was anchored down by the repeat of him and scooby scenes. Sure, having them hug and say eachothers names establishes their family connection but establishing it more than once gets annoying. There is noticeable differences between Dum and Scooby (fur color, spot locations) but he still ends up looking kinda like a clone; so maybe if he came back to the show his character design could be adjusted some more.

I have been searching for about 5 years now, to get the original recordings of the suspense music, the build ups, the chase music, etc and have been unsuccessful. I know that Ted Nichols scored many of these compositions. Unfortunately, the compilation CD's that are on the market do not contain these amazing pieces of music. Can anybody help? There might be a way to do this on your own. You can record an episode as a .wav, then every time someone talks mute the audio. Match up identical tracks and the holes made by the dialogue should be filled in. I would have done this myself if it wasn't so daunting but it's possible in theory. I've done something similar to get backgrounds from episodes.

I want to like the live action movies, but they just suck so hard. After watching it fail twice now, I'm sorry to say a live action movie might never work.

Misrepresentation of characters, and the added confusion of the lore makes these two pretty awful. At least the CG is better? No, it doesn't make up for it.
