If I were to re-create one of the movies, I would go with Reluctant Werewolf. I think it presented a nice idea, and you know exactly what I'm talking about; it's why you bought the movie in the first place. Shaggy becoming a werewolf is a great idea for a film, and it doesn't get enough time to shine well because of the wacky-races part. The movie could be re-worked and instead be focused on Shaggy and how becoming a monster changes him. It'd be a great opportunity to get behind the mind of Shag, and making him a monster would be the best conflict for a character driven movie. Reluctant Wereowolf could be great, and all you'd have to do is remove all the parts that make no sense. Get rid of the racing stuff, remove most of the monster stuff, get rid of Googie, and put Scrappy in the borderline bucket until you find a use for him. Now you've got a real movie.
It instead starts with Shaggy and Scooby watching a horror film at home like they do originally. The two get scared by the movie, but afterwards laugh at eachother which establishes the characters well. Then, Shaggy brings up the drive in movie and the two decide they'll see that the following night (which makes sense, the movies are very similar so it could be a sequel) At the movies, the moon beam strikes Shaggy (maybe on accident as to remove the hunch bunch) and now do the rear-view-mirror scene, which is what scares shaggy out of growling (instead of Googie scolding him) Shaggy drives home (successfully skipping the stupid yelling scene) in a panic and when they arrive back home Shaggy contemplates what he is to do about what's happened to him. Because Shag is such a horror movie geek, he probobly owns the Grimness Book of Records and figures out he was destined to be a werewolf; which could lead him to Drac's where he strikes a deal to get him out of this issue. Not sure about this part, just don't do the race portion for the love of god. Maybe Glenn Leopold could re-do Ghoul School and just tag this to the front of it. Werewolf Shaggy teaching monsters makes more sense than Shag misreading the job offer anyway, and it could be good because Leopold did Zombie Island so you know he's learned from his mistakes. After Shag has taught at the monster school, he learns not to be scared so much and it could end with a lesson about treating other people fairly regardless of how they look. Honestly that's what you should learn from Shaggy in general, he's best friends with a dog.

While I don't hate Scrappy, I don't know that everyone would be fond of him, even after him missing for so long. Yes, yes, we know what "Everybody" thinks. What do you think? I said how I felt in the 1st re: to this thread, but just to tl;dr: Scrappy is a good idea, but hasn't worked well in the past.

While I don't hate Scrappy, I don't know that everyone would be fond of him, even after him missing for so long. Sure, you could have him occasionally, but it's still a risk I don't think Warner Bros will take.

Out of the few Scooby toys I had, I never owned a monster action figure myself; but from research I've found that The "Friends and Foes" set included Redbeard, 10K Volt, Zombie, Sea Creature, and Phantom Racer in one version (that's 5) though some included Frankenstein, Zombie, Phantom [Vasquez], Vampire, and one of the Skeleton Men. (so now 10) I also found figures of Witch Doctor, Werewolf, and this bed-sheet ghost that reminds me of the one in the Batman episode. Additionally there's an 8-inch of Harry the Hypnotist, as far as I know that's all of them. i.imgur.com/1ZY5UkA.jpg

Everyone in the gang has potential for this. Shaggy and Scooby are cowardly but are also the most brave out of the gang because of how they contribute. Daphne has the self-defense thing so she could handle herself. Plenty of people are already giving reasons for Velma and Fred so there's those too.

Seems like the same 'game-theory' over analysis was done here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCn2cQHUkJ4Take everything these dudes say with a grain of salt, because they won't know the source material well enough and are literally trying to make fact out of fiction.

As I said in the "Do You Like Velma?" thread, Mindy Cohn is probobly my favorite. Lots of people like Linda Cardellini, and she totally looks like Velma but the parts she plays aren't too engaging. (but obviously she's going to be low here because us nerds know better) To re-iterate, it's well preformed but in the wrong direction.

No, but at the same time I could see it? I would never be for that, but I can draw motives to it now. Thanks for hurting my brain.

If you dare to remember, she sang a pretty intimate song at Daphne during Scooby-Doo 2002 but I don't think we should take that too seriously, or anything in that movie for that matter.

I think so. Shaggy would totally stand out because of his ventriloquist skills, and being friends with THE Scooby Doo is pretty rad. The gang mention in S1E1 that he's a gymnast so he's got that going for him too. Shaggy cracks plenty of jokes, so it seems like he'd be a class-clown. What would really make him popular is how social he is. Never have I seen Shaggy judge somebody, he seems to be pretty progressive like how him and Flim-Flam are friends despite him being a kid and he respects Scooby even though he's a dog. Plenty of things point to him being a respectable dude, contrary to what Mystery Begins depicts.

Hadn't thought about it too hard until I saw the poll, but I'm gonna go with Dum. Scooby-Dum never got any closure and I think that's unjustified. Scooby-Dum has such enthusiasm for wanting to be a detective, it makes sense that he'd join the gang. Maybe through studying them and helping them with mysteries, he becomes a rival mystery hunter; sort of like Rose in Be Cool except Scooby-Dum existed before and would actually have a reason for me to care. It'd be sort of like what 2000 tried to do with Scrappy, but maybe the writers learned from that movie and could do one better. ( give him more evil than, "hey i pissed on daphne")

That's pretty broad question. Velma is one character yes but the characters are very dynamic. I'm not sure if it's linked to voice actors, but it seems like the characters change based on who's playing them. My favorite actor for her is Mindy Cohn. She puts alot of sass into Velma which is charming in small doses, but constantly hearing it is pretty annoying. What I mean is the actual voice she does. The pitch, accent, stuff like that. Even if I don't like the lines, she delivers them well. It does make sense to make such a smart character rude, but as far as the movies and tv shows go you either get all of it or none of it. If she managed it a bit more, Mindy Cohn could literally be Velma. The most recent iteration, Kate Micucci is strange. For me, she comes off as a nerd stereotype; how nasal she sounds when delivering on the lines, and the tone she's on. She can be aloof like Mindy, but ultimately it's circumstantial and never just whenever she wants to be il. She says "uh" a lot, and those types of filler words turn me off even more. These are only two examples but I think you get the gist. It really differs on what her lines are and who's playing her. Since I don't know who writes lines specifically I couldn't judge for that so sorry if it seems like I'm bashing.
