I think Where Are You was Fraphne but in the same sense that 13 Ghosts was Shaphne. It was in the back of the writers minds but not really something they felt like exploring. Post-WAY though? Nah. Same with Shelma in SDWAY. As far as I know, the creators, after denying gossips of Velma's lesbian orientation, admited that they intended Shaggy and Velma to be a couple. It was abandoned later, but it doesn't change the fact that they had it in the back of their minds. Interestingly, in the earliest conception of Where Are You, Shaggy and Velma were siblings. I think the lesbian thing may have accidentally sprung from Velma being based off of Sheila Kuehl.

At the end of the day the best relationship is Shaggy and Googie!

I can barely believe there is a confirmation Daphne and Shaggy were a couple in 13 goshts of Scooby-Doo. Thought i often wondered what their relationship exactly was in the 1980 series, i don't remember there was anything who indicated they had more than a strong friendship. Daphne always seemed a little to bossy toward Shaggy to be in love with him. I feel more a brother/sister relationship than love. Except the fact two young adults living and traveling together everytime is rather strange if they are just friends, i don't much feel romantic feelings, especially from Daphne. More of a siblings/team relationship. I know their couple is only implied and not official, but it seemed more obvious to me Fred and Daphne had romantic feeling in previous (or later) series than Shaggy and Daphne, tought we could wonder about them also. But it's good to had a confirmation even 32 years after!

Doo, If you ever get a chance to interview Tom again, you should ask him if they were indeed a couple and to go into detail about why he made them a couple. Would be interesting to see his view on this couple.

I actually asked him about the new movie. He's not really thrilled about its existence. This is partially due to leftover bitterness towards Warner Bros. for excluding him from the Animaniacs reboot. Having both of these things announced the same year is kind of a kick in the teeth.

I can definitely understand why he feels that way though. I'll maybe ask about Shaggy/Daphne couple thing some other time, or I guess JonathanMuddlemore could ask him to elaborate on his vague "yes" email if he wanted to.

If any of you could get him to go into detail about his decision to pair those two up, I think it would be interesting to hear from some one who actually worked on the show and to see their view point on this shipping. It also a shame that he has zero involvement with this new movie that is a conclusion to something he created. Did he provide any reasons to why he doesn't like this new movie or is it just because of how he was treated?

His exact words were "a banner year for their immoral and unprofessional theft of my creations!" Again, this seems to be more about WB's Animaniacs reboot than 13 Ghosts.

If so, that's probably unlikely as my voice sounds like a shy chipmunk when recorded lol. I could have him write out his thoughts I guess, though based on his "immoral theft of my creations!" comment I'm not sure he'd want to tbh.

I mean I would be bitter too if I found out WB was working on a reboot on a show Icreated without me having any input on it whatsoever.
