Now that would be interesting. But Im pretty sure this will be a modern times show. Yes, I love the DTV design but honestly I hope they go for something new. Im a fan of drastic changes as you can tell lol My idea would have the humans. No Scooby at all.

I would sorta love it if they did a HBO Max season for each of the characters (with Shaggy and Scooby going together), and then had them finally come together in the fifth season.

...Yes, I love the DTV design but honestly I hope they go for something new. Im a fan of drastic changes as you can tell lol I dunno, Be Cool was different and that didn't go down well with elements of the fandom. I really hope they don't got for things like The Regular Show or similar crtl+c, crtl+v style of Cartoon Network amimation, that's not different anymore, that's the norm. Now, a Gendy Tartakovsky Samurai Jack/Clone Wars style Velma, now that could be real fun.

I would LOVE a Harley Quinn-type animation. It's definitely not gonna be the Regular Show animation cuz thats exclusive for that specific creator/producer. in fact, Close Enough is his show too.

Seconding the Harley Quinn style of animation for this - is a good art/character style for a fast paced adult comedy.
Also seconding the opinions expressed that adult means "darker" here instead of Family Guy style "raunchy".
I hope that while she's exploring her "budding sexuality" they don't turn her into a lesbian. For the record I have nothing against adding LGBTQ themes into the Scooby-franchise, my problem is just everyone assuming it should be Velma makes it seem like low hanging fruit/lazy to me I suppose...I'd pick Fred, Daphne, or Shaggy over Velma, just to do the unexpected thing. But I'm weird like that I guess. Probably Fred actually, what modern straight guy accessorizes with an ascot? Plus the Fred and Daphne romance plots in some of the stuff gets a tad annoying, so anything to disrupt that...
Hope they take some cues from MI and the recent Daphne and Velma YA novels.
And finally - looking forward to this!

The 13 ghosts movie definitely hinted at that angle.

I'm not a fan of this. Probably will only last a season or two, and then fade into obscurity just like all other odd, one-shoty spin-offs from an older, popular franchise. Why can't they just do more, you know, Scooby. Like classic SDWAY. What made the franchise in the first place.
I'm all for change and innovation and whatnot, but there's been a lot of that recently. WNSD was a bit of a "return of form" and I'd like to see something more in line with that again. It's about time if you ask me. Plus, Scooby is generally seen as such a family friendly franchise. Why make a "for adults" series at all? Isn't that like excluding the franchise's target audience?
Also, on the whole sexuality thing - wasn't Velma straight (or at least bi) in the past? I'm pretty sure references to her "having a boyfriend" were in SDWAY, and she dated Shaggy in MI. If they want to go that angle, I'd prefer new, original characters. I hate when LGBT "inclusion" involves hijacking pre-existing characters. Regardless of your stance, it's pretty disrespectful. Let new characters blossom and overtake the fandom on their own merits. Changing what people have grown up with & known one way for decades is just asking for derision and conflict. Something I generally like to see avoided in entertainment media. (because it always spoils the fandom)
Also, going with Velma, of all the mystery gang, seems like an odd choice for a new series. Why not a character who could use a little more personality, backstory, and info - like Fred or Daphne? The original writers always "split them up together" because they found them boring to write for. Why not add some spin, or show things from their point of view, or something? I think that could be cool - IF making a "solo mystery gang member series" must be done at all.

Which I'm mostly bringing up because wow that was a fun crossover.

Something I generally like to see avoided in entertainment media. (because it always spoils the fandom) Straight privilege and ignorance will never cease to surprise me. Velma was never born as a straight character, she just happened to have a couple of male love interest in some of iterations of the franchise and some female love interests such as having a crush on Daphne in the first Scooby-Doo movie (confirmed by James Gunn) and being in a relationship in MI with Hot Dog Water, that’s why her relationship with Shaggy was so toxic (confirmed by the writers of the show). Now, regardless of the relationships she had in these various iterations let’s not forget that there are thousands of different writers that wrote Velma, so she will never ever ever be the same character as the original show, you will have a million different shades added and taken out. Assuming that is the case, it doesn’t surprise me that writers want to explore more with personality traits or in this case her sexuality. “But then why did they make her date Shaggy? She never had a girlfriend on screen” you ask? Well that is because LGBT representation in media is still stigmatized. Warner Bros rejected both requests by James Gunn and MI writers to have Velma being with a girl on screen, not because “Velma is always been straight” but because of the stigma, otherwise they wouldn’t have allowed Velma to be attracted by Beau In Zombie Island or Winsor in Phantosaur either. In fact, since Velma’s sexuality was never expressed in the original SDWAY, it started giving way to the many speculations about her being attracted to girls. Also, if you’re really so afraid of canon remember that sexuality is a spectrum one can fluctuate on, so it’s not set in stone. No one is hijacking anyone, Velma will continue to be a detective wearing at least one orange piece of clothing, will continue to be smart, in one iteration sassy, in the other socially awkward, in one skeptical and in the other superstitious regardless of her being attracted to women or men and whether she is white, black, latina, south east asian, Native American or whatever. That doesn’t change anything BUT the your own perception on the character. If you are blinded by homophobia I don’t expect you to react any different way.

As a straight guy, maybe I'm not the person who knows quite as well how to handle this representation as someone in the LGBTQ+ community. With that being said, I expect this show to have no influence on the main kid-friendly canon, so I see no reason for anyone to be upset if Velma is a lesbian. If it really bothers anyone that much just don't watch it. As for the main canon, I do believe that the original writers had no particular intention of making her a lesbian just as much as that was not the main focus of the show. However, Beau from Zombie Island, Ben Ravencroft, or even Johnny Bravo (lmao) did not seem like a confused lesbian trying to get a boyfriend like she did with Shaggy in Mystery Incorporated (which is also generally pretty separate from the rest of the Scooby Doo canon) it felt like genuine attraction. However, while she might not feel like she's strictly lesbian in particular, I see no problem with writing her character to be bisexual for representation or particularly for character development purposes (that is a much more positive and interesting direction to go in than the very annoying, obsessed, ghost-denier thing they've done instead)
