What's more interesting is why now? Why Velma? What does her POV bring to the storytelling table that the other's don't? I think it has to do with the Internet attention she received due to her sexuality speculations and someone wants to set the record straight... But for the love of all that is orange can they please avoid the dysfunctional relationship and 'drama' that plagued SD:MI

Please please please don't judge it too soon. Couldn't agree more with this comment. I'm absolutely not judging it until I watch it first. I think a lot of people (though not everyone) have learned from Be Cool that we can't just judge something based on preliminary information (in Be Cool's case, the designs).

I think it has to do with the Internet attention she received due to her sexuality speculations and someone wants to set the record straight. BTW, more exciting plot reveals. Mindy posted more details with an Instagram post: http://instagr.am/p/CLHuEKArdBO The caption reads: "I’m so excited to be voicing this iconic character! Velma will struggle to navigate the pitfalls of high school, her budding sexuality, and a serial killer intent on murdering every popular kid in town. Sounds epic, @charliegrandy! Can’t wait!" So we have high school, sexuality and a murder mystery. This sounds great to be honest. I wish that the rest of the gang were included for a big murder mystery plot

All this sounds very good to me, we will see if they do it well depending on how they do it it can be good or bad, the main ideas seem incredible. and i'm surprised wb has thought of adult audiences.I just don't understand people worrying so much, I consider this to be something they will do extra apart from all the normal scooby things, this is not scooby doo, it is a different series that is not in the scooby cannon. scooby doo is a universe and velma is just another that have a character in common. I see it great as long as we have the successor series to scooby doo and guess who by 2023 while we wait, this series maybe it will be good.It is a very different innovative idea and something that nobody expected anyway wb surprised me, maybe a series with the whole gang would have been better, not only with Velma but who knows that everyone will finally appear in this New series.i also hope it's not a generic adult comedy, and that it feels like velma is, but i just don't care so much i wish it's good but i have no big concern (it's not scooby doo) I would love it to be like mystery incorporated in serious tone but according to the description it says adult comedy, which worries me slightly, but more adult I would not like a generic absurd adult comedy so used in those series. with jokes out of place, i think i should keep a balance between the innovative and the classic like sdmi and bcsd did. but this series come back and I repeat can not be compared because it really does not belong to scooby doo. I hope it's good and I'm looking forward to seeing it, I'm quite positive about this and I love the idea, I greet everyone.

I wish that the rest of the gang were included for a big murder mystery plot I don't think there's anything saying the rest of the gang won't have small roles potentially. Though technically, even if they don't, it would still be canon with "The Spirit Spooked Sports Show" where it's said that Velma attended a different high school than the rest of the gang.

Animated? I'm more interested now, and good points Scoobylover. Thanks for understanding. And Velma *is* the most progressive character in the series. She's a natural choice for the 20s-30s demographic. Hayley Kiyoko did a great job in Mystery Begins, and actually came out as lesbian after if I remember right, so swapping Velma's ancestry and such aren't way out there I suppose.

I guess what I’m saying is that I would prefer a show where it focuses on all of them (especially if they are separate at first) and they all come together and become friends unexpectedly, like a lesbian like Velma (at least in this incarnation) ending up in the same group as an athlete like Fred and really fleshing out everyone’s character while dealing with high school drama (but far more intriguing drama than what SDMI tried to do at times, there’s only so much you can do with drama on a y7 rated show) With that being said, I hope this show turns out to be really good. If it does well then maybe we can get something more towards my ideas after all. Again it wouldn’t be for everyone but I bet it could get a pretty big following for how well known Scooby is

Yeah wait minute... what does this mean for that unofficial Kickstarter for a Scooby show? Perhaps that served as a catalyst for this and they still haven't gotten permission. I must say, even my buddy who is hardly interested in the Scooby franchise told me about this... it's getting good marketing and seems to be hitting the demographic nicely. I suppose I'm mostly bummed more just because I've never seen more than 3 episodes of The Office, The Mindy Show, etc. Animated is better in this regard since I feel like I won't need to know those shows to appreciate this but I am still widely skeptical of what direction they will take this in. I suppose what scares me the most is that it DOES get popular, but it's not the Velma I expect who is getting popular, but I suppose we've been through all this before with Gunn's films.

I do not expect much violence however. That recent Amazon "dark" superhero show was very off-putting to many people and so I expect/hope for this to be more drama and mystery, which is a good thing. I like Scooby Apocalypse, but that is certainly not Canon and really not appropriate for kids or even young teens. Comics have a way of not being as intense too, since only so many frames can be packed in one story.

Last comment. I'm curious if they are going to approach this with that same satirical perspective as Gunn or if they could make this a tad more serious. There can still be jokes, but I'd really appreciate a series where it's not focused so hard on just parodying the gang (in this case, Velma). A show such as the old Gunsmith Cats was intently serious, but they still joked around. There's this perfect balance of seriousness (yowch! I really can get hurt in this universe!) but they still kid around and have a charm about them. Just thoughts I'm having.

I think I’ve made up my mind how I feel about it at first glance and I hate to say it, but it’s not great. I hate that it is probably going to be a more comedic mature show than dark. It still deserves a chance but man I hope this doesn’t turn out to just mainly be a bunch of adult humor

One thing that does concern me is the animation style they go for. Hoping it's more close to the DTV many of those on CArtoon Network.

I don't know if this means anything in terms of animation, but one of the people working on this show is someone who's worked on every Scooby show and film since 2010 (Sam Register).

I will give it a chance. I would have personally been a fan of a more adult-oriented Scooby mystery cartoon (not Family Guy-esque, just darker and maybe a few jokes) moreso than a Velma (or any of them tbh) origin story. Maybe this will make Velma more likable than she has been in recent Scooby Honestly, I would enjoy a mystery Scooby Doo teen drama kind of show too. Like Riverdale, but actually well written and shows respect towards the original Scooby Doo. Definitely wouldn't be for every Scooby fan, but if they keep it as a single entity that doesn't impact anything else Scooby, then I would see it as no harm done I'd love a 1960s set teen drama based on Scooby Doo.

Now that would be interesting. But Im pretty sure this will be a modern times show. Yes, I love the DTV design but honestly I hope they go for something new. Im a fan of drastic changes as you can tell lol
