And since I try to count all of the versions of the series and Velma saying how she went to one high school, before meeting the gang. When did she say she went there before she met the gang?

She said Old Alma Mater in an NSD Movie. So I assumed that she went to another high school and switched over and meet them.
Then again, they could have meet in middle school. It really depends on the school district.

Alma Mater just means "school" right? So if she says "Old Alma Mater" wouldn't that just mean a school that she use to go to?

Yea an alma mater is a school that you went to. I don't know why Velma didn't just say old school though.

Maybe saying "alma mater" sounds a bit more intelligent than just saying "old school".

probably and she is very intelligent. So I assume that she went to a different high school before switching. Then again they could be middle school aged.

When they meet, sorry not being clear enough on this.

When they meet, sorry not being clear enough on this. No, it's okay. So, basically, you don't believe it happened exactly like it was shown in A Pup or Mystery Begins, and are coming up with a theory yourself?

Theory of myself combining something from each main one.

I voted Mystery Begins/Curse of the Lake Monster as the true origin because as I said on the Mystery Begins/Curse of the Lake Monster thread that the TV movies were intended to be prequels to only the live action movies(only minor differences like 2002 Scooby-Doo movie treated it like it was the first time they dealt with real supernatural sources instead of men in mask, flashback with the kids) as well as prequel to a 21st century version of Scooby-Doo Where Are You(modern clothes, Velma being Asian and more technology like Laptops and cell phones) and there was a lot of reasoning behind my thoughts on how it could be a valid prequel to the first live action movies and there is nothing in the two movies that can can contradict that it can't be the origin for those movies(Mystery Inc.clubhouse in Scooby-doo 2 is their high school clubhouse(said mystery inc on sign in front instead of Scooby-Doo detective agency) and the tv movie gang meets(Mystery Begins) and came up with their Mystery Incorporated name(Curse of the Lake Monster) in high school so they could make the high school clubhouse either after Mystery Begins(when they were painting and putting flowers on the Mystery Machine van in the end montage) or after Curse of the Lake Monster(from the money Daphne's uncle gave them), In the Monsters Unleashed flashback they had made the kids look like teenagers, Black Knight Ghost is the first official case the gang was going to investigate at the end of Mystery Begins, etc) (I got more examples if you want me to post it or if you want to pm me):
-In the opening scene of Mystery begins Velma talking about her science project(same project from Monsters Unleashed that helps them save the day)
-At the end of Mystery Begins Velma talking about the Black Knight Ghost/Coolsville Museum being Mystery Inc's first official case in Monsters Unleashed/pilot episode villian (mystery/principle in mystery begins don't count since that's how they get together and became friends and they only solved it in order to clear their names). Plus the scene at the end of mystery begins where they used the theme clips from original "Scooby-Doo Where Are You" ,the 70's "Scooby-Doo Show"/ "Scooby-Doo Where Are You" 3rd season and What's New Scooby help proves the point that Mystery Begins was leading to a 21st century version of the original Where Are you cartoons.
-I guess shaggy having a couple of skateboards in his room in mystery begins is a reference to shaggy skateboarding(using skateboard terms, skateboarding on a trash lid in Monsters Unleashed counts) in the first and second movie and how many teenagers skateboard now
-Kate Daphne karate kicking a statue like Buffy Daphne (that's what I like to call Sarah Michelle Gellar's version of Daphne not trying to insult her)
-like I said TV movie Mystery Incorporated wore what looks like a mix of the first 2 live action movie clothes and classic cartoon clothes only they look like something today's teens would wear(especially pointed out in one of the first teaser trailers where Robbie Amell's Fred looks at his white sweater/Blue shirt/orange ascot combot and says "too old School" and gets a blue High School Letterman jacket instead and Daphne choosing a purple dress saying perfect)
-Robbie Fred being a brunette similar to how the deleted scene in SDI with kids joking that Fred dyes his hair blond(joke since Fred's eyebrows in the cartoon and the previous live action movies were black and his hair is blonde and producers and Robbie thought Robbie didn't look good in a blonde wig or dying his hair blonde for 85 min made him look like a Ken doll(see Scooby-Doo Mystery Begins behind the scene on the DVD) but got a scene in Curse of the lake monster where he has the original cartoon look and he thought he look good in it (ironically I thought Robbie Amell looks more like classic Fred than Freddie Prince Jr did in the beginning of Scooby-Doo 1) so maybe Robbie Fred decides to permanently dye his hair blonde because he decides he looks better as a blone. plus Robbie has some facial similarities(my 11 year old brother even said Robbie looks like a teenage version of Freddie Prince Jr. only more buff) and Nick Palatas Shaggy also has some similarities to Mathew Shaggy(beard instead of peach fuzz like cartoon Shaggy, Nick Shaggy wearing a grey shirt underneath green shirt in Mystery Begins similar to Mathew Shaggy's look in Monsters unleashed , etc)
-in all four live action movies Fred and to an extent Velma are big skeptics when it comes to the fact that ghosts and monsters are real/might exist
-Scooby's fart jokes
-Fred and Daphne romantic moments/hints in Mystery Begins/Curse of the Lake Monster which could lead up to the romance in the first 2 movies(based on Fred and Daphne always together when they split up and search for clues)
-cast and crew as well as various interviews and pages treated Mystery Begin as prequel to first 2 movies
-Robbie Amell Fred acting basically acting like Fred in first 2 live action movies and Fred from the original Where are you cartoon and to an extent the what's new cartoon series and early 2000 dvd cartoons only a little smarter(he was seen in a lot of cartoons as being a huge sports fans and lifting weights around 220 tons and being the coolest guy in Coolsville high so being a football player is entirely believable and because he started being friends with the gang as time went on he could invite them to sports events)
-Music in TV movies similar to original movies(help when it's the same guy who conducts the music)
-Mystery Begins/Curse of the Lake Monster Scooby tackling and licking Shaggy constantly similar to the first 2 movies
-Crew of SD1 and Sarah Michelle Gellar saying Daphne's dad bought/owned the Mystery Machine in the first movie's cast commentary and and how most fans consider the Mystery Machine to be owned by Daphne so so really Mystery Begins did nothing to contradict that logic because Daphne and her dad are still the owner of the Mystery Machine it's just that Daphne dad was going give Daphne the Mystery Machine/Gardner's van when she gets her driver's license and Shaggy was the only one who can drive(he is always confirmed to be the oldest member of the gang and he could be between 16-17 years old which is usually Shaggy's confirmed age).
-the Mystery Begins/Curse of the Lake Monster Mystery Machine being a mix of the 2000 Direct to video movies(Zombie Island, Alien Invaders,etc)/first 2 live action movies(it's looks more like a modern day van instead of VM Bug like the 60s Mystery Machine) and classic 1960s mystery Machine(color scheme and flowers on the MM and the green hubcap/spare tire with the orange flower on the front of the car)
-The whole hands on top of each other moment similar to how Shaggy was the only one who wanted to do it but the rest of gang didn't until the end of the movie
-Still in Coolsville like the first 2 movie(just showing it to be Ohio similar to real town Coolville,Ohio) and the cartoons
To be honest I always felt that Pup named Scooby-Doo was a more Looney Toons style/satirize on Scooby-Doo Where Are You and only was on because of the whole "kid version of your favorite kids characters fad" at the time(Flintstones Kids, Tom and Jerry kids, Baby Looney Toons, Tiny Toons, etc) and the only questions they answered is why does Shaggy like scooby snacks(Snow Place Like Home) and where does the gang lived and that's it. Sure some of the questions had some attempts at an answer(Mystery machine, how did shaggy and scooby and the gang meet, how does Mystery Inc come about) but some of the questions were never answered( how did scooby snacks came to be which was only shown as scooby snacks factory, where is Coolsville, etc) However Mystery Begins and Curse of the Lake Monster took time to provide explanation for everything and seeing the number of people who viewed both movies how many good reviews, especially from kids and people who love posting on the internet I would say it has done a pretty good job and was successful overall.
plus I think Mystery Begins/Curse of the Lake Monsters were made not only to bring in new fans, but also fans who were disappointed by the first 2 live action movies, fans who either didn't watch or didn't like the explanations pup named Scooby-Doo, etc made, and for fans who make posts like "Poor Shaggy;he tries to help but these three were just looking for an excuse to quit. Makes you wonder why they were friends in the first place."(this post was made after he./she viewed Scooby-Doo 1 a valid question and the tv movies might have been to made to explain it to fans like these how they came together and why they became friends.) In that result it was successful because and seeing the number of people who viewed and/or bought both TV movies and how many good reviews it gained on the internet both from professional critics and fans alike , especially from kids and some teens, adults(especially some people who didn't think it was going to be a good movie because Fred wasn't blonde or another reason, people who didn't like the first 2 movie, etc) who love posting on the internet I would say it has done a pretty good job and was successful overall.
I'm not targeting the first 2 movies or Pup Named Scooby-Doo or anything like that. I just felt that Mystery Begins/Curse of the Lake Monster cast and crew took the Scooby-Doo universe a little more serious and try to stay faithful while trying to take time to take the time to provide explanation for everything and making a new Scooby-Doo universe for a new generation of fans to watch and enjoy(i have to admit they were successful in doing that). I know not everybody like the movie and I'm not trying to force anyone to. I'm just pointing out 2 facts:
A.) Mystery Begins/Curse of the Lake Monster can be seen as a valid origin for First 2 live action movie and Where are you cartoon(maybe others but mostly the movies and original cartoons since besides Chickenstein and maybe the flashback when they were kids/teenagers in the second movie there was nothing to say Pup Named Scooby-Doo was or was not the prequel to the first 2 movies unless the cast or crew of the 1st 2 movies say so say so) and when that happens you can say Mystery Begins/Curse of the Lake Monster can be the start of a new generation of live action movies or something
B.)Mystery Begins/Curse of the Lake Monster was a successful attempt at making a new Scooby-Doo universe just like the new Mystery Incorporated
sorry for the long post, thanks for reading through it all if you did

freddaphne29758- So do you just not believe in A Pup Named Scooby-Doo at all? Or are you just voting for Mystery Begins/Lake Monster because you like those movies a lot?

freddaphne29758- So do you just not believe in A Pup Named Scooby-Doo at all? Or are you just voting for Mystery Begins/Lake Monster because you like those movies a lot? to answer your question, both. To me except for the name of their hometown, Pup named Scooby-Doo never felt like a good origin to me. Compared to Mystery Begins/Curse of the Lake Monster which I posted various posts on why It make sense that it could be a valid origin to either the first 2 live action movie, or the Where Are You cartoon because it did little to nothing to contradict to what I know about the Scooby-Doo universe(from DVD, Cartoon, Cast Commentary, fan sites, etc). like Daphne/Daphne's Dad owning the Mystery Machine, Shaggy made the design(although The whole Mystery Inc. made the design in Mystery Begins that doesn't contradict), etc. Also I do like the movies for various reasons. The TV Movie Mystery Inc felt like they would be what the original Where Are You gang would be like in real life/modern age from their clothes to the personalities, etc. as well as various other reasons(My ability to relate to the tv movie gang as well as I feel like the gang being my thought on how the Where Are You teens/Mystery Inc would be like in the 21st century being one of them)
