The main reason why I dislike Fred and Velma is because they have always been bland characters in my point of views. I will admit that Daphne is a bland character outside of the mid 1980's series. Plus, I find Fred to be annoying in Pup and the WB shows. I don't really care about Fred from the classic half of the main continuity as he had no personality at the time but the new writers have really improved him. Supposedly he now is written as someone with Asperger's syndrome (or Maybe that was just in Mystery Incorporated but the writers have supposedly said that at least one version of him has it) but is a largely sympathetic character. Unlike many characters people think have Asperger's, he doesn't have such a high opinion of himself that he only has room for a negative opinion of everyone else (*cough* Sheldon Cooper). Also unlike Sheldon, he isn't so selfish and unlikable that you just want to kill him. Well now that brings Fred into a new light...as someone on the spectrum, I have to say that i hate how mainstream ruins people's reps with ASD. Fred, one of the most mainstream characters ever possibly being that way could change that.

Amazon has just posted the Blu-Ray cover, giving us our first look at the film. The previous May 22 date has now been removed from both the DVD and Blu-Ray page on Amazon, which would explain why we haven't seen a trailer for the film yet. www.amazon.com/dp/B079NBWSZY

This is going to suck. No Scooby or Shaggy. A race changed Daphne. Those are just the tip of the iceberg as to what's going to be wrong with this film.

I can't see anything different in Daphne's race. How is Daphne's race even central to the movie's quality? Or Shaggy and Scooby's presence? It's not like they'll be gone for twenty plus years, we can survive a movie without them. Wait until you've seen it, at least.

If people of color want more people who look like them in pop culture they should just create their own new characters. To me changing the race of a character that has been around for fifty years is like casting a midget as a tall character. That's a very stupid and ignorant thing to say but thank god they don't listen to you before making movies. I don't see color when I look at actors, just the characters they portay, unless their race plays a big part in the movie, such as their cultural background etc. And please don't reply by saying "ugh but Daphne has always been white since the 60s", thats a weak argument. Let's all praise the fact that there will finally be some diversity in the characters. However, the movie looks cheap but I'll wait to judge.

That Velma's wig is not cute. Let's all praise the fact that there will finally be some diversity in the characters. Velma in Mystery Begins is Asian. The Daphne race change is bound to happen anyway barneynedward, it's the $current_year. BUT DONT KILL RED HEADS, HOLLYWEED.

I just believe that an actor playing an iconic beloved character should actually be able to resemble said character. I'd have as much of a problem with a white Sam Wilson/Falcon or a white John Stewart or Simon Baz. That's why many people hated Peter Ustinov as Hercule Poirot. He looked nothing like him.

That sounds A LOT like the live-action movie, but the ending was the only real deal breaker for me, and I just watched the trailer and found it very charming, so we'll see.

I thoroughly enjoyed the live action movies as well, but I unfortunately received a different vibe from this film trailer. As someone else has said, the casting is not on point for me. I am fine with diversity, but seeing them in the Daphne and Velma garb looks.. odd and out of place? While of course the wardrobe is eccentric for modern day, the live action films did pretty well in incorporating the outfits in my opinion. This looks like a cosplay at comic con in some ways. I also just don’t think the characters look good visually with the actors cast. Still, I will watch and have an open mind. But as the trailer goes, it did not catch my interest like I hoped it would.

IMO it will go well with its target demographic (hint, it's not me). Will it add to the Scooby cannon or be just another tween/ear;y-teen girl flick where one says lead says jinkies and the other wears purple.

Hmm. I'm not sure how I feel about this trailer. The plot seems interesting, though like others have mentioned, the acting seems a bit off. The "Whassup D and V?!?" at the end of the trailer also felt really out of place. I'll still definitely give this one a chance, but hopefully it's better than the trailer looks upon first viewing.

I just find odd that Fred's not involved in this, not to mention its random that Shaggy and Scooby to be taken out of a film, they've been in every series and film from 80s to now. If it doesn't make money due to Shaggy and Scooby not being present, than what?

If it doesn't make money due to Shaggy and Scooby not being present, than what? Well this is set before Mystery Incorporated is a thing. Until some brave soul watches the film you don't know if the boys or Scooby will put in an appearance. My guess is that if they do it will be at the very end for the film and it'll be a small thing like a Shaggy-type voice calling out 'Scooby' or Daphne and Velma finding an Ascot on a desk. This is a Daphne and Velma origin movie, not a Shaggy, Scooby, Fred, Daphne and Velma origin story - that was Curse of the Lake Monster.
