Well, it looks like Multiversus might be joining the 'bonfire of the live service games' as the player count has shrunk to around the 1000 mark (https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/multiversus-daily-peak-steam-player-count-has-dropped-more-than-99-since-launch/).

I got myself Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. I tend to dabble in games so it's better value for me that buying them.

...So much weird stuff is going on in the world right now I can't even keep up. The world economy is sinking and artificial intelligence is being used by governments now. None of this is sustainable. AI has been around for ages, I did my masters degree in AI around 30 years ago and it was alreay a well established field then, albeit with a lot of things 'just 10 years away' and nothing like the computing power needed to deliver.

THat kinda flatlined my interest (such that it was), it reads more like a soap opera and those just aren't my thing. The whole 'relationship drama' stuff nearly killed SD:MI for me and from what the above looks like it does seem that they're all in on the drama. They've put a lot of work into it but it does look like I'm not part of the target audience. Understandable. At least you’re not ruining it for other people as msny are doing by boycotting which is despicable for us are looking forward to it Well, I'm activly not getting HBO Max if it helps :-) But that's probably as I can't be bothered to find out if it's available in the UK (not seen any adverts for it that I can remember). It's interesting to contrast the 'excitable' reaction to 'Velma' to the general positive reacion to her coming out in Trick or Treat (also the way that there was no pre-release fuss or hype about it, it just happened - there's a good Council of Geeks episode on this and why it's so important (https://youtu.be/VNxslpEJ_2Y)). What I will be interested in finding out is how they fit 'Velma' in with the rest of the Scooby 'universe' of if they're clear that this is it's own thing it it's own universe (as they did with SD:MI). As an aside, if the took the same approach as as the 70's sitcom Soap to how they do the soap-opera aspect of Velma, that could make it worth watching.

I mean in official stuff, not from fans. Which official stuff though? Scooby has never had a consistent approach to there lore.

If Velma is officially lesbian in the current main continuity wonder if this means the Shelma ship is dead for future productions. Did the shaphne ship die because of Madelyn in Abracadabra Doo? Or Daphne with whotever that old guy was the Kiss crossover? Or with Crystal in Alien Invaders... If people want to ship, let them ship.

Nobody here will be surprised to know that I've only heard of Frank Welker & “Weird Al” Yankovic
...
and Gary Cole having looked him up on Wikipedia

The Velma social media accounts are officially public and active. And we can gather some important information from them: For one, the Instagram bio reveals the story is set in Crystal Cove, making this a SDMI prequel: “Teenage Mystery Solver. Crystal Cove, CA”... A better way would be to say this is in a parallel Crystal Cove to the SD:MI Crystal Cove otherwise there will need to be some serious retconning to join one Velma to the other.

Animation still looks like its been done on a shoestring budget, not looking good.

Unfortunately, the very reason being it was almost done so they scrapped it. I thought it was because they wanted to focus on the big cinema blockbusters rather than anything for streaming.

Emmm, well, that's a thing. Really don't know what to make of that, some of that animation looked really rough. Watched it again at 720p this time, still looks odd. Not getting any real vibes for the story, could be interesting, could be a dumpster fire.
