What on earth do they need a writing staff for? To come up with segment ideas I believe. What's a segment idea? Never seen a WWE show so I don't know what really goers on (beyond a load of testosterone fuelled overacting )

They script the specific rivalries and inbetween match interactions. Heck they script the matches too.
It's not uncommon to hear WWE described as "A MAN'S soap opera"

I wonder if Freddie Prinze will have any involvement at all in the making of the movie.

Update: "WWE Superstars have finished most of the voiceovers for the WWE Studios Scooby Doo movie. Some talents may be brought back for more work if there are re-writes made. The plan is to release the movie in the Spring of 2014, before WrestleMania 30, with the idea that the Mystery Inc. crew goes to WrestleMania to solve a mystery that threatens the show going on." With the build up to wrestlmania promotion, this has the potential to be the highest selling Scooby release in a long long time. Not just to scooby fans, but with wwe fans buying it as well. Plus most Scooby DTVs don't get much advertising beyond cartoon network...wwe is on how many different networks? So this will get much more exposure than previous releases all the way back to alien invaders and cyber chase (which had fast food or video game tie-ins)
For better or worse, the sales of this may influence what kind of scooby projects we get afterwards.

Okay, so now we know it won't be the "next" Scooby movie after Big Top. There's still a lot of talk about it though!!

Did anyone listen to this? The guy actually started wondering/questioning if Freddie Prinze Jr. would voice Fred instead of Frank Welker, since Freddie Prinze Jr. works for WWE. I'm sure that won't happen!! THEY HAVE READ THIS THREAD!!! I just now came across this! kayfabecomedy.com, the website I got that podcast from, saw this thread, saw that we were discussing the possibility of Freddie Prinze Jr. voicing Fred in the 2014 movie instead of Frank Welker, and even provided a link to this thread! Here's what they had to say after reading what we said on this thread!: " BREAKING TALKING GREAT DANE AT WRESTLEMANIA XXX NEWS
On a recent edition of the Kayfabe Comedy Podcast Show we speculated on the voice cast for the upcoming Scooby Doo Goes to Wrestlemania movie. Not so much about which wrestlers will still be relevant in two years (AJ? She seriously did some VO work for this thing?) but as to who would be doing the voices for Scoobyfs gang, Mystery Inc. To recap- Frank Welker (the highest grossing actor of all time with his legendary voice over career) has done the voice of beloved character Fred Jones for every single iteration of Scooby Doo, save the short lived spin-off A Pup Named Scooby Doo. For some reason in the early 1990's all cartoons were just deaged versions of classic cartoons.
Regardless, Welker should be Fred. However, there is one small wrinkle in all of this. Freddie Prinze Jr, who played Fred in two live-action Scooby Doo movies also is employed by WWE. Would WWE insist on inserting a little more star power into this project and remove classic Fred from the equation.
This was not only troubling to us. It seems that a Scooby Doo Fan Message Board found Chapter 15 (and seriously, it's weird seeing someone legitimately call us the Laugh Twin) and started asking themselves the very same question. We stumped the experts!
If the story engine of Scooby Doo is 'the search for truth' then let it be known that the ScoobyAddicts Board takes that very seriously. They have unearthed some information and found a website called CSICon.org, which is somehow an organization. They state (with no citations or references) that Frank Welker and NOT Freddie Prinze Jr will continue to be the Fred we all want and deserve!" This is from: kayfabecomedy.com/?tag=frank-welker

I found an article from ringsidereport.com/?p=21763 . Here is part of it: "WWE Superstars and Divas including Triple H®, John Cena®, Kane, The Miz®, Brodus Clay™, Santino Marella®, Sin Cara™ and AJ™ will appear in animated form and lend their voices to the project. WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon® will also lend his voice and appear in animated form. “We are excited to partner with Warner Bros. on this wonderful animated film,” said WWE Studios President Michael Luisi. “Kids and adults are going to enjoy seeing their favorite WWE Superstars in animated form join forces with an icon like Scooby-Doo to solve a mystery at the biggest pop-culture event of the year – WrestleMania.” “Warner Bros. is thrilled to get into the ring with WWE Studios to bring fans an unprecedented animated adventure,” said Jeff Brown, Executive Vice President and General Manager, TV, Warner Home Video. “We’re excited to leverage the WWE’s family-friendly brand and passionate fan base and integrate some of the most popular WWE Superstars and Divas within the Scooby-Doo gang.” When Shaggy and Scooby win tickets to WrestleMania, the entire gang travels in the Mystery Machine to WWE City to attend the epic event. However, when a mysterious ghostly bear appears and threatens to ruin the show, Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne and Fred work with WWE Superstars to solve the case. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will handle worldwide distribution on Blu-ray, DVD, VOD and digital download. The film will be produced by Warner Bros. Animation. WWE will utilize its extensive global reach through its television, digital media and print assets to market the release of the film."

"...WWE’s family-friendly brand..."
To be hones not a phrase I would use in the same context as WWE. What few snippets I've seen it does appear to be rather violent with quite gratuitous violence at that.
