We just got 180 members!
Unfortunately, many of them have stopped coming or never even posted.

Yep. When viewing the list of members you can tell that most of them have 0 or very few posts.
I don't see why some people sign up to the forum if they are not going to post anything. You can view the board without signing up, so what is the point of becoming a member and not posting?

I don't get that either.

...Was I the 180th member? o.o;
And I agree with you about that. Plus, the high amount of members might deter some more shy people, especially if they think that a lot people are active- that happens to me sometimes on bigger forums.

Yeah, that could be what happened.

Forums are just like that, people join, look around and forget to come back or loose interest in the topic. I used to be a mod on a forum and you would have this large tail of users, some people seemed to be on all the time while others just popped in for a while then never came back.

Yay~! :D
And yeah, what russm said is right. It happens on every forum. Maybe once the amount of members reaches a certain point, though, the completely inactive accounts should be removed? Otherwise the number will just keep piling up until it gets to be overwhelming.

We have had a lot of people that were very active and then they stopped coming back. I don't know if it would be good to delete people. Would it delete posts if we delete them? And what if they do come back sometime and they try to login and can't? They may not want to come back.

And what if they do come back sometime and they try to login and can't? They may not want to come back. It wouldn't delete any posts. Last year, when I had to ban the spammer, even after I banned them, it didn't delete the posts. If we wanted to delete anyone who hasn't been on the forum, I would suggest sending them an email at the email they left when they registered explaining that if they do not log on by the end of the month or send an email to us, they will be deleted. So, are you saying we need to do this or not ScoobyAddict?

I don't feel the need to delete anyone either.

Maybe people who have been on for years and have 0 posts can be deleted after emailed. It's not necessary, but it's a thought. I would assume that the people with 0 posts wouldn't care if their account is deleted.
