I've been noticing how nobody is talking about Where Are You?, Scooby-Doo Show, etc. anymore and focusing more on SD:MI. I gotta say, I like the new show, but there's no more talk about the old ones. All the memories of the Scooby/Shaggy moments aren't in the new series and I miss that so much. Wouldn't you want the new series to have more of those? Anyway, as an active member here, I can't take this anymore. Starting my Where Are You? Marathon tonight. Anyone agree? ;D Attachments:

Well, yes and no. It's great to talk about and see SDWAY?, but SD:MI is now to me, more up to date. It feels different--and more complete to me than SDWAY? I pointed this out before, but I'll be more direct: SDWAY? is like Superman, that is, we see the mysteries being solved, you know, the standard stuff, and that's it. SD:MI is like Clark Kent, where we see what's happening behind the scenes outside (and during) the mysteries. The gang has a life. Dare I say it, but SD:MI is more complete than SDWAY?. SDWAY? will always be the standard bearer, but SD:MI may have actually rounded it out.

I guess you don't seem to get the feeling I do. I wish I could go back to the days when I would cuddle up with mom and I was always scared of the villains. Ah, the memories.

I LOVE the originals! I watch them all the time! Espically because I have the tv channel Teletoon retro so I watch it almost everyday. I for sure think we need way more classic scooby and shaggy moments in the new series. But, I must say, I love that there is a new series and new movies coming out and such. It`s keeping scooby alive and going.

I agree that I miss SDWAY. I like the new series and learning the background of the characters, but SDWAY was the original and the best! Sometimes, it seems like Scooby and Shaggy aren't as close in the new series, and especially in the last live action movie. We do watch SDWAY a lot. We watch it when it's on TV and we watch the DVDs. My youngest son loves Scooby so we watch it quite a bit during the day.

I have to take issue with you on Shaggy and Scooby not being as close in SD:MI because Shaggy dumped his girlfriend Velma for Scooby. You can't get any closer than that. I'm not trying to dis SDWAY?, by the way, to you SDWAY? lovers. I'm just making an honest comparison of the two. Is it possible you guys are trying to put old wine into new bottles, or new wine into old bottles? Both, I think, can be presented on their own without infringing on the other one.

I really love Where Are You, but I also love SD:MI, so I can't say I like one better than the other.

I agree, I do like SD:MI (it's a relief after "Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get a Clue," and count me as one of the minority that actually did NOT like "What's New, Scooby-Doo"), but the original "Where Are You" will always be the best to me. It's a shame Cartoon Network no longer reruns the pre-1990s Scooby-Doo shows. In fact, up until "Scooby-Doo: Mystery Inc." made its official premiere, CN was on the verge of becoming a Scooby-free channel! How ironic is that?

I found a very interesting point from our friend Nickle over on the Toonzone forums concerning SDWAY? and SD:MI. I thought it was so insightful, I lifted it from there and pasted it here. Thank you, Nickle: "I think because maybe the show doesn't air on Saturday mornings, or network TV any more, the S&P is a lot more lenient. Or at least that's what I would think; and I think this series is what a lot of people have been waiting for. Remember, the original series Scooby Doo Where Are You was supposed to be a bit darker when it came to the horror and the villains; but CBS thought the show would be too frightening for young kids, so Hanna Barbera went back to the drawing board and changed the show to what it is now, or what most people remember it as. Now that the show is off over the air TV, Scooby Doo can be a bit more like it was originally intended. Having the horror ratcheted up a few notches, while still retaining its charm and the humor that has made it so popular over the years." You SDWAYers might just have found yourselves cheering for a modified version of SD:MI.

First, I love the current Scooby series, and I love the classic series and movies, so I don't mind talking about the classics at all.
However, since the classics have aired over and over for decades, and this series is brand new with new episodes, I think more people would rather talk about the new, then the old.
Thank you Sagg by the way, I didn't mind you quoting my post at Toonzone Forums at all. Actually I was going to bring that up eventually here anyway.
I really think Scooby Doo Where Are You fans were hoping for a show like SDMI for years. And in a lot of ways, this is exactly like a modern version of Scooby Doo Where Are You, but with an overlying story arc, new characters and new plot twists.
Which makes this one heck of a new show, and one of the better Scooby projects(movie or series) since WB bought Hanna Barbera back in the 90s.

I like all those points nickle. It's important to remember that the creators of SD:MI went back to the original source material and show creators when they put the new show together. I think that's a big factor of why it works so well. For me at least.
Love the classics though too. Don't get me wrong. Watch the 70's shows quite often.

People always talk more about the now because its new (something that just happened and is more interesting to talk about)
but i will probably always like the original better (even though i was born long after the original show ended)
also the new show isnt so much learning the characters backstory as is making a new backstory, its a reboot of the franchise

Some of the old shows had some dark stuff going on that would not fly today, even on a non-weekend.
How about this? The Ghost of Benedict Arnold (The Spirits of '76) ties Scooby-Doo to a cotton-gin to be spank-tortured and watches gloatingly as the poor dog suffers.
