๐ FULL UPDATE ๐ ... So Many Words... THat kinda flatlined my interest (such that it was), it reads more like a soap opera and those just aren't my thing. The whole 'relationship drama' stuff nearly killed SD:MI for me and from what the above looks like it does seem that they're all in on the drama. They've put a lot of work into it but it does look like I'm not part of the target audience.

It's interesting to contrast the 'excitable' reaction to 'Velma' to the general positive reacion to her coming out in Trick or Treat (also the way that there was no pre-release fuss or hype about it, it just happened - there's a good Council of Geeks episode on this and why it's so important (https://youtu.be/VNxslpEJ_2Y)). What I will be interested in finding out is how they fit 'Velma' in with the rest of the Scooby 'universe' of if they're clear that this is it's own thing it it's own universe (as they did with SD:MI). As an aside, if the took the same approach as as the 70's sitcom Soap to how they do the soap-opera aspect of Velma, that could make it worth watching.

Thanks for that easy to follow post Scoobylover.
I'm still interested to see what this show does and doesn't do.

Been gone from most of my usual sites a few months for personal reasons, so last I heard thought this was cancelled. Glad that was just a rumor or whatever, still interested in giving this a shot. I admit that to me it's looking more and more like some weird fan fiction rather than anything recognizably Scooby related right now, but sometimes these radical Elseworlds takes are just what's needed to liven things up every now and again. Still not fond of making Shaggy a drug user or having Fred act like a douche, but it's something I'll just have to get over.
Not a fan of the art style at all, but I still think it's better than Be Cool's which just never grew on me.
The race changes is a non-issue, and the characters still mostly look themselves, except Shaggy. It's mostly the head being too elongated I think with the traditional scraggly sort-of-beard being replaced at the very bottom of the chin looking very neat. Like that really isn't a shaggy beard, which is why he's Shaggy. But I'll admit it's a nitpick and still just me not being a fan of whatever you call this art style I guess? Also just weird having the whole gang but not Scooby anywhere.
Anyways still not excited exactly but cautiously optimistic and willing to give it a try to judge on its own merits.

Thanks so much for sharing this article! It was really refreshing to hear a behind-the-scenes take on the creative decision to give Velma a female love interest. I thought Velma having a female love interest was worked super well in the film without feeling forced or cringey, but I have to admit, I was a bit annoyed with the media reaction afterwards. I didn't really care for how the media was so quick to slap the "lesbian" label on Velma when it's not really ever stated if Velma is exclusively into women. Arguably, the message that the media sent of "if you're into one woman, you are automatically a lesbian!" is harmful, since that logic ignores the possibility that someone interested in women could be bisexual, or another sexuality entirely, or just maybe even just exploring her sexuality. I guess this is probably an unpopular opinion and I don't expect anyone to agree with it, since it seems like a lot of the fandom was either "how dare they make Velma a lesbian" or "wow, this is great!", but my opinion is more in the middle. I think they executed having Velma interested in a woman really well in the film, but the surface-level media reporting that cited things like "the Scooby-Doo writers" to falsely claim that Velma was a lesbian in every iteration of the franchise was frustrating. That being said, it was really refreshing to see an article actually analyze what this development meant for Velma's character rather than the clickbait-ish claims that have dominated most of the media coverage about this.

The official instagram account for the show posted a story of what it seems to be a screening event for the press.

Sorry for the double post, TV Passport already lists 9 episode titles for the show; no descriptions yet and the air dates don't match so I'm not entirely sure if the site is accurate this time (though in my experience it has been proven to be accurate before for other shows, like "Young Justice" and others). www.tvpassport.com/series/velma/54297541-1 Velma 1-2 The Candy (Wo)man 1-3 Velma Kai 1-4 Velma Makes a List 1-5 Marching Band Sleepover 1-6 The Sins of the Fathers and Some of the Mothers 1-7 Fog Fest 1-8 A Velma In The Woods 1-9 Family (Wo)man
