Scooby Doo[2002] - 3.8/5 Scooby Doo[2004] - 4/5 Scooby Doo The Mystery Begins[2009] - 4.9 (Favorite) Scooby Doo Curse Of The Lake Monster[2010] - 4.2 - Why? Because This movie didn't had alot of Scooby Doo, from start Fred & Daphne Kissing that's really wrong because THEY JUST STARTED DOING MYSTERYS a true Scooby Doo has to know the Invisible Rules(50% Scooby & Mystery 10% Relation Ships 40% Mystery,Scooby Snacks,Trap, and the rest), and then Shaggy falling in love with Velma? THE SHAGGY I KNOW AND LIKE IS ALLWAYS INTERESTED IN FOOD,SCOOBY,AND NOT THINKING OF MONSTERS, the rest of the Cast Was ok, but at the End SCOOBY DOO WAS LEFT BEHIND? , That was the worst error of this movie, you never leave the one who gets more love behind EVER! This movie was a Disepoiting to me, the only reason i gived a 4.1 was because Scooby Doo Was there and at least 2 Movies was here for us this Year, YOU GUYS DONT GET THAT ALOT ONLY 2 TIMES, SO BE HAPPY AND ALLWAYS SEE MOVIE 2 TIMES A WEEK IF YOU WANT TO LIKE MORE,a game, and a brand new Series. Top Best Things Happening in This Year - 1-New Scooby Doo Series 2- Scooby Doo! Camp Scare 3-Scooby Doo Curse Of The Lake Monster 4- Game

I watched the movie again last night, and still wasn't impressed with it. If it wasn't a Scooby movie, I might have been more impressed. I mean, it was great if you like romance and stuff. The actors all have talent, and they mesh pretty well together. It just didn't seem to go along with the Scooby franchise. Really, why was Scooby cut from most of this movie? He is the main character. What happened to him that he wasn't in the movie that much? And where was the mystery? We saw bits and pieces of mystery stuff, but it was mostly about the romance between the gang members. It's supposed to be the other way around. I hate to be disappointed by Scooby. There were so many talented people involved with it and I really feel like it could have been done better. Especially since it was the #1 telecast for Cartoon Network for the year. It wasn't horrible, it just didn't fit in with how we all perceive Scooby movies to be. It's all about the mystery!!! tvbythenumbers.com/2010/10/18/scooby-doo-curse-of-the-lake-monster-scorches-all-kids-competition-cartoon-networks-1-telecast-of-the-year/68451

I don't like how they're turning a great series into a drama filled soap opera.

I like how the series of two movies have answered the questions that we have had ie how did they get together, answered in mystery begins, is there a romance and what is the dynamic of the relationships etc.. It appears to me that they started at the beginning and are working forward. I realize that It is upsetting to some people if anything diveates from the cartoon ie Freds hair etc. But it appears that these movies are trying to give us something different than what has already been done a thousand times. I appreciate that.

I didn't hate the romance as much as some of you, though I agree, they focused too much on it. I think they handled the Shaggy/Velma thing better than SDMI. If they do make another one{and judging by the ratings, we probably will}, hopefully they have a better script.
Even though this was the weaker movie, I do think the cast improved from the last one.

I guess it`s kind of a matter of opinion though. I mean, I am one of the type of people who like to believe the gang knew each other as kids and that Shaggy got Scooby as a puppy. And this has been the way the the series has mostly played it off as. I mean they had a whole series(A Pup Named Scooby-Doo).
I think they tried using that(how the gang came together) as a marketing pich when they made the mystery begins. Just my opinion. Cuz quite frankly, we know how the gang came together. Like I said earlier, we had a series of the gang as kids, plus it has been poked at throughout scooby history. Also, I think younger kids and teens enjoy romance and stuff. I`ve noticed a lot in new cartoons and shows. So I am assume this is why they are using romance so much in new scooby stuff that comes out.
Personally, I loved Camp Scare! So I`m excited for the next cartoon film to come out. Also i am a fan of the new series. I think it is very good.

I don't mind romance, heck I ship Daph/Fred but they didn't even have that much Scooby in it and I was really hopping they'd show more of Shaggy and Scooby's friendship, but no.

I am almost finished with this movie but I have to wait another 54 minutes to watch the rest. I actually really like this movie. But Velma is really creepy. I like the daph and fred thing, it is really good to watch. I like how Shaggy likes Velms too, but there isn't enough Scoob. Can't wait to watch the rest

Finally watched the movie last night, and wanted to chime in on the points you all have been talking about the most. 1) Not Enough Scooby? I wonder if they just didn't have a big enough FX budget to show him more? I'm not usually one to notice stuff like this...at least not on first viewing...but alot of the special effects were pretty obvious. Like the scene where Velma catches Shaggy falling off the van. You could really tell the background behind them was either a big picture screen or an image superimposed, and that Shaggy was suspended somehow. Some of the other shots where the gang was visible close up were like that too, like when they were driving in the Mystery Machine and it was obvious the background scenery 'outside' the windows was just the soundstage or whatever. I'm not sure how much it costs each time they insert a CGI Scooby into the action, but maybe it was too expensive to do too often and they had to limit his appearances more than they would've liked? 2) Shaggy & Velma. I kept thinking I'd probably have enjoyed this part of the movie a lot more if we hadn't just gone thru essentially the same thing only different in SD:MI. I almost wonder whether the producers/writers of Curse Of The Lake Monster had any communication at all with the people making SD:MI to realize they were telling so many of the same stories...more or less? I mean, not just the dating stories, but even that flashback sequence to where they get thrown out the barn window was very similar to the flashback sequence in "The Legend Of Alice May". Even though the storylines didn't play out the same way, I just felt like that ground had already been covered. Curse Of The Lake Monster started production quite some time before SD:MI debuted, so I wonder if they had too much filmed and complete to be able to change the story and avoid re-treading the same material? If COTLM had debuted first, I wonder if we'd have like the gang interaction stories better? ScoobyAddict, if you get those interviews these might be a couple questions to ask? Otherwise, I actually liked the movie more than I thought I would. I caught just a couple scenes while DVRing last weekend, and wasn't too impressed...the Shaggy imagination scenes...so I went into it not expecting much and ended up liking it more. No where to have gone but up I guess. Overall I felt it was very much in the same vein as The Mystery Begins, which I thought was kinda corny and not spooky enough also. I honestly think this movie would've made a much better sequel to TMB if SD:MI hadn't already stolen much of its thunder so to speak. The amount of time allocated to the gang interactions was probably similar to the time allocated in the first movie to them getting to know each other in detention, the school bus, Shaggy's house, etc. If the dating scenes had felt more like 'fresh material' I think the movie would've gone over better. I did like the spooky location scenes more than in TMB though. The fog rolling in off the lake, the lighthouse scenes, the museum boat S.S. Daphne, the descendents home, etc. And also the scuba-diving scene and the maze of tunnels in the underwater caves. Made me think of Cutler's Cove meets Mine Your Own Business. Classic Scooby imagery. I also liked how the Lake Monster's hand just missed grabbing Daphne as she went down the stairs...classic Scooby again...and how Scooby painted that fake 'mine-shaft' tunnel that the Monsters crashed into. Will have to watch again when I can. Mark

haha. I also noticed how near the start when Fred and Shaggy were golf caddys (thats the right word, isn't it) well the golf clubs had bugs bunny and other looney tunes characters on them.
