Even though I love Shaphne I'm glad it didn't happen in M.I., it wouldn't have been right for Shaggy to take Fred's girl. And given the writers' form it would have been a train-wreck like all the other relationship stuff in SDMI.

^Actually Shaphne would've been less of a wreck, Shaggy was wanting Daphne and we all know that eventually Fred and Daphne would've split up for good due to some reason. I think that Daphne's elbowing Shaggy was a way to say "not now, fix your problems with Velma if you want to date me, I know you didn't mean to hurt her but, she doesn't exactly realize why you chose scooby over her, i'll wait, Fred's aware of it to and would rather be with Velma but until all our issues are worked out we can't switch dance partners."

Firstly given the writers obvious lack of form in the area I would have to disagree with you, sensible and stable relationships are not their forte, just dysfunctional ones. Secondly what you're saying is simple wish fulfillment.

Well Daphne and Shaggy together was a mythology gag. I think we each have our own opinion on whether or not the writers were villains in the MI series, personally i think the villains for that series are the critics.

Daphne is a minor figure in Greek mythology, not sure there were may called Shaggy though so I don't quite get the joke. For me there were many things that were so good in SD:MI but were overshadowed by the dysfunctional relationships and characters they put in there.

^I was talking about the show's mythology that scene as well as Be Cool was referencing Daphne & Shaggy being together in the 80's.

...as Be Cool was referencing Daphne & Shaggy being together in the 80's. It did? Can't say that rings a bell.

^Daphne and Shaggy splitting up in Be Cool and that one scene in mystery Inc being part of The Show's Myths from the 80's was what i was referring to not the actual mythology, i would have said greek myths if i was talking about Greco-Roman myths. Just because Mythology is mentioned doesn't always mean that it's Greco-Roman ones. Every thing has its own myths and I was referring to the fact that MI and Be Cool both took the time to acknowledge Shaggy and Daphne being together as an homage to the 80's series.

Probably the easiest way to sole this is to ask JCB, one of the writers on the show who posts to this board from time-to-time. IMO you are reading a lot more into it that there is. Well Daphne is a figure in Greek mythology which is where the confusion arose. And while we're on the subject of all things classical

Velma as Venus (the roman names are cooler) I think that's only because their names start with VE, it's still interesting.

^And how did the writers get away with it? I thought meddling kids stopped fiendish plots like that.

My problem with MI with the nature of some episodes and the fraphne.
I don't know how they would have added it to the overall plot.
