...It's NOT what you'd call a typical high school clique, and yet it is. ;D Before you become confused, here's what I mean: Fred and Daphne represent the handsome and beautiful part of the group, while Shaggy and Velma represent the gawky, nerdy, and geeky part of the group with the weird-looking dog, Scooby.
But they all work together, and can be considered a quasi-family. That's totally against the typical HS clique. The group represents how we can all get along.
Still, they have their own clique (it appears) because you don't see anyone else hanging around them, and Mystery Inc. seems to stay to themselves. Recall when the jocks accused them of being "mystery geeks" while they were running from Alice May, ruining the prom.
It just seems really interesting--and why is a dog going to school? ;D

True, you normally wouldn't see the jock and cheerleader types (Fred and Daphne) hanging out with the geeky types (Velma and Shaggy). I think it works well though because it does show that different people can get along together and work as a team. Nice observation, sagg!

Thank you. Now, why is Scooby going to school? Is he learning anything other than trying to keep Shaggy and Velma apart?

Why has Scooby gone to all the places the gang has over the past 41 years? Scooby has been treated like a human lol Scoob is just awesome. Oh and yeah, and the gang, since Scooby-Doo Where are you?, has always been a group of very different socially kids who just chill together for what ever reason. I`ve always wondered, why do scooby and shaggy hang with fred, daphne and velma if they hate mysteries and monsters so much? lol

Scoobys almost human for sure. I never really read into how diverse they are and if I did I made up some crack reason why they were but they were written in the 60's when kids wern't AS cruel

Those are both interesting observations, the clique and the 60's perspective. Regarding Scooby going to school, maybe that's where he learned to talk? Mark

I think we also have to keep in perspective that this is a cartoon and the live action movies were based on a cartoon about a dog that can talk. So Scooby going to all these places and going to school is how they seem to keep Scooby connected to the gang as more than just a dog. If he wasn't able to go everywhere they go, then he wouldn't really be a major part of the gang. That's just my opinion.

man I wish my dog could come to school with me... then again Id never get any work done with her and her whinging when its not all about her. anyways it is nice how they all get along and as for shaggy and scooby hanging with the others despite their hate of monsters must have something to do with being there for there friends, I mean they are dealing with dangerous criminals and hat if somthing happened to one of the others whilst on a mystery, scoob and shag would feel pretty bad about letting their friends go on alone only to be badly hurt, besides sometimes people who are completely opposite to you in personality make the best friends (even if no one can figure out how you got that close to begin with) thats my pennys worth any way

I'm thinking perhaps Scooby simply hangs around outside the school while Shaggy's in class (possibly sleeping, or keeping his mind occupied with food), then joins him in the lunchroom, or outside when he's on break or something. Since everybody probably knows Shaggy and Scooby (including the principal and the teachers), they let Scooby do so. Sorry. I just want to add a touch of realism, here.

I used to take all kinds of random animals to my old school wild birds, baby birds, injured lizards and a joey once too but everyone had to be cool with them being there or they had to stay with the ladies in the office, but the school was tiny and filled to the brim with animal lovers so I got away with it, my new school not so much, its like 500 times bigger than the last one and its in the city, and my friend used to go to a school where two dogs were a part of the staff but again that was in the country so scooby going to school wouldnt be totally unrealisc (you know presuming we remove the whole hes a cartoon thing out of the equation) but being out of school waiting for shaggy would be more fun for scooby the whole no eating in class would really get him down...

i always think Scooby Doo! the mystery begins covered it the best. they have a common interest in mysteries and then they almost get suspended but they started to work together to clear their name and started to like each other more and became a mystery club in high school

yeah i love that movie ,it took a while to get used to freds hair and scoobys appearence but after a while it grew on me ,just wish they would find a time zone and stick with it though all those contradictions through out the different incarnations are annoying.

I concur. Brunette Fred vs. Blond Fred. Coolsville vs. Cabot Cove. How about they give a better, more definitive canon for the Gang?
