I really don't see them in those cliques persay (Daphne + cheerleader=?) but I do love how their personalities meld together and come together as they solve mysteries.

Well the original series was made in the hippie era, so there wasn't as much judgement between teenagers. The original Fred wasn't supposed to be a jock, that was Shaggy's thing (baseball, acrobatics), Fred was more a DIY guy (traps and stuff). Daphne wasn't supposed to be your average girl next door either, she was clumsy and ditzy. I guess What's New added a little stereotypes to Fred and Daphne, but it wasn't to noticeable.

Mystery Begins answers a lot of these questions if you accept it as cannon. Fred wasn't the jock of the original series though, Fred's hair wasn't black, Shaggy wasn't 20 and Scooby was a puppy when he was adopted. It's hard to call it canon
