You know, I didn't know that the Monkees records in 1967 sold MORE than the Beatles and Rolling Stones COMBINED! (NBC Nightly News, Feb. 29th) Are you kidding me?! I had heard for a band that was formed only for TV, they weren't half-bad in singing terms.

I loved The Monkees!! I saw them in concert, watched their TV show and bought all of their CDs! They were really good! And have such an interesting history!

1967 was an odd year apparently in music. Also read last week that the Beatles and Sgt Peppers were kept from hitting #1 by Englebert Humperdink of all people. (BBC News)
The Stones released In Her Majesties Satanic Service that year which didn't chart or sell well, so outselling them in 67 wasn't too hard. But had it been 68!! Another story.
