Since I had Velma out, I've decided to do a Daphne one. Before I start, I'll admit here and now I'm not familiar with Kellie Martin's as much, since, yes, I didn't really get into A Pup Named Scooby Doo. Sorry, but may I point out that most of you didn't like Shaggy and Scooby Get A Clue, either? ;D
The nominees, courtesy of Wikipedia:
Indira Stefanianna Christopherson Danks (1969)
Heather Lindsay North Kenney (1970–1997, 2003)
Kellie Martin (1988–1991: A Pup Named Scooby-Doo)
Mary Kay Bergman (1998–1999)
Grey DeLisle (2000–Present)
Like Jaffe, Danks set the standard with Daphne by being the first, but she only stayed one season. Bergman committed suicide tragically, having a short stay as well. Both to me didn't really establish the character in their style because of their short duration.
So it comes down to Kenney and DeLisle. Kenny clearly had the long mileage to make Daphne her own, no doubt about it. She took over the role, and ran with it.
DeLisle humbly took over from her friend Bergman and was so good at voicing Daphne, people couldn't tell the difference between her and Bergman. Delisle also could sing very well (in "Fear of the Phantom" she did her own singing, if you'll recall), and did (and is still doing) other voices in many other cartoons. Kenny, from what I've read and gathered, has only voiced Daphne. Someone please check me on this. I'll gladly admit my mistake.
It's because of DeLisle's amazing voice talent that I give her the edge, but barely. She's been Daphne long enough to me for her to believe she is the best voice of Daphne. What do you guys think? Speculate! ;D
