I think the Black Knight is the first villain that the gang captured.

It was the Black Knight, who in reality was Mr. Wickles, the museum curator. First aired September 13, 1969 on CBS at 10:30 AM Eastern time. (I was there to see it. )

So, do you all not believe in A Pup Named Scooby-Doo?
I'm going to just go ahead and ignore that "captured" word, because there have been times where they have caught the bad guy, without "capturing" or using a trap. The Black Night Ghost was the first villian that the gang was shown to have caught. In the episode though, Fred says "Well gang, it looks like we're up to our armour plates in another mystery." ANOTHER. In A Pup Named SD, the gang is shown as kids (younger than teenagers). In that series, there is a flashback of their very first case. Red Herring was the one behind the mask and Fred never forgot it. Red Herring is not really a villian, but I do believe that that was their first case, and that he was the first one to be unmasked. So, the Black Night Ghost was the first to be shown, but it's not what the gang experienced first.

Pup is about them being kids, and wasn't the original series. I think we all tend to see the first villain they ever unmasked as being from the original series. Had Pup been the original then we would have gone with that.

For me, there is a difference between the first one that was shown, and the first thing the gang experienced. Fred says "another".
