I love the idea of Don Knotts being the villain, so I picked the 1996 one haha. The script also seems super interesting to me and I wish it would have been made!

The one where Scrappy isn't the antagonist considering that was added late.

I really, really, really don't like James Gunn, and it all started with the live-action Scooby-Doo films (although the 2nd was better than the 1st). Having skimmed through the 1996 a couple of times, it's a no-contest win. That film not only would have been so much better, but I bet it would have been a bigger success too!

I think they could easily make the 1996 film as a movie pilot for a TV series with a few tweaks here and there

I enjoy both for different reasons, but the 1996 script is the technically better movie.

I enjoy both for different reasons, but the 1996 script is the technically better movie. Too bad more elements of it didn't make it into the 2002 film.

I'm kind of biased because I used to watch the 2002 movie a ton as a kid. Although I'm a Scrappy Doo fan, I'm fine with him being the villain. It would be cool if both movies could have been made though
