No Scooby after all. Maybe Velma needs her own Franshise since she also has that live action film too.

It's a spin-off like The Patrick Star Show is to SpongeBob.

When they don’t feature the titular or main characters they’re called spin-offs. Scrappy-Doo & Yabba Doo is also a spinoff

I don't think it's been confirmed yet that the gang won't show up, right? Maybe they'll make a little guest appearance or something.

Yes, imo. Don't get me wrong, I'm very underwhelmed by the direction they seem to be taking this myself, but it's clearly billed as the next major Scooby thing unless it's later revealed to be a side project and we're getting a different Scooby-centric one as well.

Definitely. If it has at least 1 member of the gang, I'd count it as Scooby media. They're just as important as Scooby himself is. I feel really good about this series! I'm excited to see Velma be a girl of color again. And the human members of the gang are gonna be there, so that's 80% of the OG mains.
I'm probably just gonna have to ignore what everyone else is saying about this series. A lot of the Scooby stuff I like (Daphne and Velma 2018, Be Cool, The Mystery Begins) are thing that other people are just super mean to instead of just disliking it and moving on. It's a 50+ year old franchise; not every piece of media made under its name is gonna be exactly the same. And I've seen a lot of behavior in the Scooby fandom that is just really gatekeepy and dismissive. For example, the other day, I got blocked by someone on Tumblr just for saying I like the Daphne and Velma movie. Like, come on.
There's so much conversation about this show it makes my head hurt. Racists are being racist about it, and everyone else is saying it should just be a new character. I think it's really important for it to be an iconic character that's being portrayed as East Asian, IMO. The rest of the gang besides Scooby deserves to be explored, as well. Of course I'm gonna miss him in this particular show! But he's not going anywhere.
I'm not gonna get my expectations up too high, but I'm optimistic. I love character studies, and it sounds like this is what Velma is gonna be.

It is pretty frustrating that people are immediately judging the show when we don't even know that much about it. I understand that some people might be worried about the show just because it's so different from the normal Scooby formula, but I feel like people need to at least give it a chance before so harshly judging it based on what we know about the series, which is a couple sentences from two press releases at this point. I'm really excited for the show personally.

I am going to predict we have Scooby by the end of Season 1, albeit he’s just a normal dog.

It's a spin-off like The Patrick Star Show is to SpongeBob. Venom was good, but not really Spiderman. Also, the Daphne and Velma movie was okay if you consider how short of a time they had to film it and judge it alongside similar tv-special time constraints and budgets.

I guess I responded to this thread without responding to the main subject, but I don't think there's a way to say until it comes out. We don't know what the show's going to be like, so there's no reason to make assumptions yet.
