It will definitely be interesting to see where they go with the show's tone. I doubt it will be overly gory and violent, and maybe focus more on adult-esque comedy, and possibly a more adult horror tone? Assuming it's a mystery series (not sure if this was confirmed), they could lean into the scarier side of things with a more adult focus, and I think that could be interesting. They did confirm that the series plotline will center around Velma trying to stop a serial killer in her hometown. So, I think it will definitely be a mystery show, just not the kind of mysteries we're used to in Scooby haha.

Haha, I saw that in the show announcement thread, and I honestly think it'll be really interesting. I'm almost hoping they lean into the freaky, scary, horror side of investigating something like that - especially as a teenager - because I think it would be so different for Scooby, and I would like to see it.

I believe Nancy Drew is tone and vibe this show is going for. Hmmm, in a recent run of Nancy Drew comics I think she was murdered in issue 1, so that Nancy Drew 'tone and vibe' counts for nothing. Plus given what was discussed here scoobyaddicts.proboards.com/thread/5778/announces-velma-adult-animated-series?page=7 I doesn't have that vibe to me. At the moment it sounds like an animated show where they'll be characters which happen to be called Fred, Velma, Daphne and Shaggy, one might wear glasses, another like purple, at some point a dog might put in an appearance, but Scooby Doo it is not. Essentially I can get more than enough 'drama', dysfunctional relationships/behaviour and other BS in the real world, I don't want it in my entertainment.

I thought only facebook conservative white 50yos would complain about an IP being stretched further. I mean, sure let’s get 100 more copy pastes of “Scooby-Doo Where Are You Show”..

Ohhh look, an ad hominem! Sigh, no I do not want more of the same*, if you look through my posts I was raving for Scooby Apocalypse, wanting the show to try new things. And no, it is not trying new things, it is just catching up with the trend of 'let's make the good guys dysfunctional, bad even' that's been around for a while. My comments stems from a similar feeling to why Seth MacFarlane created The Orville, you get fed up with the 'oh look another dysfunction dystopian future'. It's a bit like after The X-Files, everything had to have some kind of consipracy irrespective if the show needed it or not (a few shows like Threshold did the conspiracy thing really well though). I stuck with SD:MI becasue of the story, not the the characters (almost despite of the characters). With Velma/Marcie being the hight point of a relationship arc within that series. You can be as createive as hell, but you can do that whilst being kind the the characters. So far all we're getting is characters, almost a 'look how much we've changed them! but hey, their names are still the same!' *I'd be down for some more What's New Scooby Doo though.
