The late '80s and early '90s was probably the peak of the panic, but by the mid-2000s I think films such as Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings won over everybody. Heck, even Witch's Ghost touches on this around that time, too.

As a Christian myself (Protestant, but still), I'd say that priest needs to get his priorities in order. What a ridiculous statement Also, not to mention, Hanna Barbera has done Bible stories before, like "The Greatest Adventure: Stories from the Bible" I'm curious if this was competition to The Living Scriptures animated series?

It at least seems possible, given they were both popular in the mid '80s. In a really odd twist that wraps a full-circle of everything I've said in this thread, they state that "Richard Rich, the director of The Fox and the Hound and The Black Cauldron" directed their their animated cartoons. Interesting. Do note, not everything they produced was strictly Christian, adding in Mormon stories as well. I think this same company did The Swan Princess, but don't hold me to that.

Not sure. I haven’t seen either of them, I’ve just seen that one while scrolling through Hanna Barbera DVDs in Amazon

Whoa. In the HB cartoon, Tim Curry voices the snake in The Garden of Eve, and Vincent Price voices King Herod. That's pretty interesting. Also, James Earl Jones as Moses' Pharaoh. Those are some big names. And of course, Frank Welker voiced all the lions.
