From the few reviews I've seen so far, I know that this is an unpopular opinion, but I thought this was a great episode! The episode had a very spooky mystery and the villain was super original! This season has had some very original monster designs and I'm enjoying it. It was a great reimagining of Frankenstein. I also thought it was cool how (almost) everyone was the villain. Definitely in my top 10 so far!

That was such a dumb episode it was actually entertaining. Very funny how everyone was just all over the place. I liked Alton as a guest. I see the show it’s continuing the streak of weird dumbed down episodes. Daphne reading the diary was hilarious, as well as the guy coming out of the kitchen counter. I actually jumped cuz I was not expect that zoom in and his face was just creepy as hell. The monster design was great, and creepy. The episode overall was a lot of fun

So the first shot in this episode is a Barn Owl making the classic Hanna-Barbera owl hoot sound effect, which is of course inaccurate (as it's a recording of a Great Horned Owl, and Barn Owls instead screech and squawk.) And speaking of sound effects, at first as it storms we just get the usual 90s stock thunder and lightning sounds Advantage Audio typically uses, and the show's main thunder sound effect (that doubled Castle Thunder variation H-B used a lot in the 80s) isn't heard until they arrive at the castle.
It's also possible that it wasn't just the thunderstorm causing cellular/wi-fi interference. I know for a fact that buildings built from heavy or thick materials, such as a castle like that one, can block incoming cellular signals. Most of my college campus's buildings (built in the 1970s) were like that, along with my old middle school (built in the 1950s with thick concrete due to the possibility of a nuclear war back then.)
No wonder Shaggy and Scooby didn't want to check out the basement themselves; usually when they split up to look for clues, the guest star goes with those two, but Alton Brown went off with a potential suspect of the case before Fred said his longtime catchphrase. Heh, I could tell the monster knew that Shaggy and Scooby were hiding in those two knight suits of armor, and pretended to leave the room to bluff them. Nice to see such a monster be wise to their schemes! And then he doesn't really fall for their waiter disguises right afterward!
Heh, when the Frankenfooder Monster knocks the stuff off the table I heard a classic Hanna-Barbera crashing sound effect! Ooooh, excellent twist! Even if they've already done it a couple episodes before (the guest star being the monster), it's still amusing to see. And I also liked his take on the "meddling kids" line, realizing that HE is the guest star (since in this show the villain is always supposed to say the guest star's name after the "meddling kids" part.)
