Pretty good, but not the best.

It was alright. I should have known the guy was a red herring just by the color of his shirt!

I actually really enjoyed this episode. The Viking castle setting was great and the professor "helping" and then being evil was great 8.5/10

This is one of my favorites of the series. Wish they didn't reuse the Vikings from Curse of Viking Lake though

Once again Im confused by the order of the past three series. This was shown on tv as the first episode according to Scoobypedia and I guess it was released digitally as the 11th? Anyways, I’m so happy I’m done with the shorts (which I had never seen before) and I’m starting this. I waited to have this in HD to watch it, yes most episodes Im watching for the first time. This was one of them and it was not bad at all, or maybe it’s because I missed the mysteries so badly. Happy to see Daphne again and to have her being smart and fearless. Scrappy seemed quite toned down since the shorts, I guess to make Daphne shine as well. Shaggy and Scooby are also “calmer”. I was surprised by the reveal to be honest but the motive was quite weak

I actually think that the way the episode treats Scrappy is rather meanspirited. I mean, sure, if Scrappy really were just full of hot hair then this "oh well look where that got you" might make sense, but Scrappy's repeatedly shown strength and excitement. AND HERE HE SUPPOSEDLY CANNOT EVEN BREAK HIS OWN COLLAR. Simultaneously soothing and more confusing, is that Scrappy is shown to have his incredible strength in later episodes this season. Bruh, "Puppy Power" pops. "Splat" slaps. But nothing makes me cringe harder then "or maybe I won't" because getting Scrappy to retreat as opposed to appealing to his sense of fear is... no just no this is Scrappy Doo Even "Long John Scrappy" had Scrappy jump into full unfettered action when the gravity of the situation was impressed upon him. Taking a genuinely strong-impulsive and sometimes sloppy and silly, but strong and gifted-see, that's where Scrappy's weakless lies. He's not an invincible character, but his weakness is that sometimes he's sloppy, grabs the wrong guy, trusts the wrong perp, assumes the foe won't fight dirty. Not "he's weak but he doesn't know it" Bro! Characterizing him in a way that the people who do not give this pup more then a second glance do actually kind of disgusts me. Scrappy can become "calmer" but he's not going to suddenly become all wavery weaklegged. "Runaway Scrappy" handled an idea of having Scrappy working with his relationship with the adults in his life way better because it worked with a fear Scrappy is established to have-DISAPPOINTING HIS FAMILY. Not big strong scary men. The episode showed the paradox of how Scrappy thinks he will shine best if he predicts what his caretakers want-only to realize that A) He can't do that B) They don't always want him to put himself on the front line C) He doesn't need to be constantly on the watch to "please" them because they will always love him and he can stop and breathe and wait for them to tell him what do do. That actually worked because it didn't make him weaker then he actually was and the point was to grow Scrappy's character above "teachin' that lil' upstart a lesson"
