Why do you think Fred/Velma/Daph weren't in the first three Scooby films or other series?

I think they were trying to see if the series would take off with just Shaggy and Scooby so they could maybe work in other characters. It's all trial and error, and I think they were just experimenting with stuff. That's just my opinion, I could be way off!

I think that they wanted to bring new life to the show with Scrappy. They wanted to try something different, so they brought in a new character to revive the show. They wanted to make a new show without the mystery formula. The Boo Brothers, Ghoul School, and Reluctant Werewolf movies are not really mysteries.
And with the 13 Ghosts, I think Daphne was popular to viewers during that time period. Also, I think they were having trouble finding the right voice for Velma. Within the shows, it was revealed that Fred wasn't in the 13 Ghosts because he went to trapping camp.

So how is Boo Brothers not a mystery? I agree with the rest of your post. I think they made a mistake by messing with Scooby but agree that is what they were trying to do (try new things/get more interest). However, Boo Brothers not only has the mystery of who is behind the hauntings, but the added mystery of the treasure that the whole story revolves around.

I think LaeScoobyFan meant to say that in Boo Brothers the Ghost of Shaggy's Uncle was never captured.
As for the question, I think they were trying to see if the show would get as good of ratings without having to pay as many voice actors.

You're right that there is a mystery to that movie, but I didn't get the sense that that was the main theme. I just feel that it is a lot less of a "who done it", than any other Scooby-Doo mystery. I guess it just doesn't feel like much of a mystery to me without Daphne, Fred, and Velma being there. And there was more than one obsticle in the way of them finding the treasure (the Boo Brothers not being serious ghost exterminators, Sadie-Mae Scroggins having a crush on Shaggy, Brother Billy Bob shooting his gun off at them all of the time, a gorilla running loose, etc.).

I agree that it is not the traditional, as you put it, "who done it" mystery. I just had to point out it had a very up front mystery component to the movie. Plus i really like this movie so i had to defend it, to me it way above being grouped with ghoul school and reluctant werewolf, but that just my opinion.
