In my opinion, Scrappy is the best Scooby-Doo character. He's funny, he's well written, he has a three-dimensional personality, he's cute, and I personally don't find him annoying at all. I'm disappointed he hasn't made a real appearance since the 80s. Does anyone else agree? Does anyone else even like him at all?

Scrappy does a good job for how short he is. Watch how every scene has to be laid out just right or he's be too short to do anything.

I think the only reason why they hate him is because of when Fred, Velma and Daphne were removed he had a ton of screen time. Maybe if only Fred and Velma were removed and the shorts from 1980-1982 were made like The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show and Scrappy was mature like in his later years he would have less haters. Scrappy is over hated and there's way worse characters then him like a certain fairy dog and the characters from "modern" SpongeBob.

I actually enjoy scrappy. The reason why he's hated is because they kicked Daphne, Fred, and Velma off to do it. He was created to save the show because no one was watching. Now if there were viewers at the time they wouldn't have made him.

There were viewers by the time Scrappy was introduced, just low ones.

From the Wikipedia entry on Scrappy Doo So, it all started out ok but then it all went a bit Pete Tong over time. He is a bit of a Marmite character, you either love him or hate him. There are some shows I've seen where he works, he functions as a member of the gang, asking questions and is much more than simply running around shouting 'puppy power!' and 'lemme at 'em!'. Now some of the shows he is in would be dire irrespective of Scrappy or not. I recall one where him, Shaggy and Daphne were in London and ended up in the Diogenes club - just how badly can you misrepresent my country in a 20 minute cartoon. Which is not his 'fault' but mud sticks as they say, with 13 Ghosts cancelled before the end it looks like he was the one left holding the cheque. Could he be brought back, sure, there is no need to dump any of the gang as he has been with all of them before, he just need to be written better.

That's the fault of the writers, in the early shows I think he was cast as the 'Eagle Scout', the square jawed leader, a man with 'the right stuff', a person that young American boys growing up should aspire to becoming, earnest, noble... yadda, yadda, yadda you get the picture. He was the counter to the counter-culture. Like the Brady Bunch but not so saccharine. Which would be why Fred's character has undergone so much change over the series as they've tried to pitch him at the right level. Whilst I don't fully agree with youdontknowsponge the early Fred was just too perfect.

I can completely understand why many don't like Scrappy (to a degree, anyways, there are those who go a tad overboard...), but I enjoy him. He can be pretty annoying at times, but I think he got better as time went on. He's cute, at least in my opinion, but not overly so like other certain characters and I find his relationship with his uncle Scooby pretty adorable. In comparison to the other characters in the "Cousin Oliver" category, I think he's one of the better ones. Even if he did end up becoming a Trope Namer himself.

I agree with you there, I don't "love" him to the extreme, but I do like most of the episodes that Scrappy is in.

I find Flim Flam way worse than Scrappy.

Flim Flam was a pointless addition to the series. At least Scrappy had a point by the time of 13 Ghosts.
What I hate is when the Scrappy haters (along with most of the Fraphne/Shelma fans) act like their at the top at the fanbase and act like the Scrappy and Shaphne fans are at the bottom and not worth it and when they act like they control what goes into the series.
