I remember reading that there will be a new Jetsons movie, a Hong-Kong Phooey movie and Yogi bear 2. Hong Kong Phooey you say, I wonder...

I'm pretty sure that the Hong-Kong Phooey movie will be part animated-part live action (in the same style to the recent Yogi Bear movie)

As far as i recall on those, there has been talk of a live action Jetsons for many many years, but i'm not sure that's ever gotten out of development.
There's a screentest of Hong Kong Phooey (with Eddie Murphy doing HKP) I believe that's still happening.
The Yogi Bear sequel was greenlit following the first one. As it did indeed make a good profit. I haven't heard anything more on it, but that doesn't mean they still aren't working on it.
Personally though the majority of these type movies usually fall short of the buck for me. Mostly because I think cartoons don't equate well to live action based movies. But i don't like people that try and fault studios for wanting to take a stab at such things. New incarnations of older ideas is way older than before any of us were born. So even if I personally do not like it, i love that they do try to give older franchises the chance at a movie.
I look forward to the animated ones more, as i'm very much looking forward to this and the Flintstones project. And even then if any of those other projects make it to theaters, i'll still give them a shot. Since the worst thing that can happen is I choose to go back and watch dvd reruns.

What ever happened to the McFarland Flintstones revamp?

Fox apparently wanted Seth to re-write it and apparently didn't fit into his schedule so he passed on it. Certain blogs and "news" sites tried to spin it around negatively make it sound like Seth threw a hissyfit because Fox didn't like it. But earlier reports from less bias sources were reported with words like "they liked it, but didn't love it" and just wanted another rewrite before going forward.
That being said most hostility with that was because people didn't want to see the Flintstones in the style of the likes of Family Guy, etc. However i am a little sad it didn't get a chance. As while some were hit and miss some of the Hanna Barbera references in Seth produced cartoons were pretty cool, I wouldn't have minded them at least giving it a shot at a pilot IF they were trying to emulate the older style and not just make it Family Guy in the past. But if he passed on it i guess it's the end of that road.

Flintstones is a classic and McFarland shouldn't come near it. It'd be like letting a monkey rewrite the 9th symphony

Flintstones is a classic and McFarland shouldn't come near it. Agreed. Although I don't mind Family Guy, I wouldn't want to see Flintstones done in the same way as Family Guy or American Dad.

It's funny in a way, because we should take a step back and remember way back when Seth MacFarlane's bring break was getting hired by Cartoon Network Studios (subsidy of then Hanna barbera) and he cut his teeth there in the same trenches as the others that made up the groups that helped bring you the Cartoon Cartoons and the Adult Swim originals. He left to make Family Guy at Fox due to wanting to escape them, and his shows ironically are now cult status and no doubt one of that network's best viewer draws.
That being said we've gotten to see those same people who Seth cut his teeth with get shots at rebooting older Hanna Barbera programs for Cartoon Network for years for better or worse. (and in my book very much always for worse) Seems kind of strange the one who made themselves the most fame from that group isn't getting a chance at it.
But all said, no use crying over spilled milk. With WB making a new theatrical movie and direct to video project, the Flintstones is getting a shot at a modern continuation just like Scooby and Tom and Jerry. And i put far more faith in WB's direct to video line than i do any of the others mentioned above. So i'm feeling good about these projects. Maybe it'll be all for the better.

Its the lack of focus and the fact that Seth now thinks the Family Guy formula will make EVERYTHING absolutely awesome. And I don't mean the formula from season 1-4 lol

Seth may have made it unsuitable for children though. The Flintstones was originally for adults but then it became a 'family' show.

The source is questionable but this ones under the impression its live action www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-5518/Scooby-Doo-hits-big-screen.html , some of the things they said seem like a stretch but if it is live action that does make more sense the last ones were live action and I don't think they've ever done a animated scooby movie on the big screen, at least not in the past few decades. At first it seemed like they were talking about the original two live action ones and I thought I had time travelled the internet but nope totally recent....the plot thickens.

The Daily Mail is also know in the UK as the Daily Fail for its regular fact & context free approach to, well most things (especially anything to do with Science, statistics and any social change after the 1930's). I'm not sure I would trust them if they said that the sky was blue and rain was made of water.

Well they are releasing a animated Flintstone movie in theaters so it would not surprise me if they do a scooby movie. Which would just be so awesome!

Well I'm definitely curious to see how this will go. I wonder if it will be animated like CGI animated (yuck) or animated like the direct to dvd movies like camp scare and the like. Or animated like the first three to four films were. That style would be a hoot to see on the big screen! Now that would be a real treat to see, especially if they brought back the cast from those films! Or better yet...Heather North and Nicole Jaffe for the series' 50th anniversary! Those first four films had absolutely beautiful art design and would work wonders for a theatrical movie if the writing and script were to be just as strong. --- If this movie ends up being done in the style of the DTV movies and has a poor script/cast, I will be disappointed. I won't get my hopes up for anything good though. But, at least it's Scooby, so....I'll at least enjoy it for what it is.
