I have encountered people who say this version of Scooby Doo is "incredibly misogynistic" and "treats its female characters like crap". What do you guys think?

There have been times where that has happened, but I don't think they do it too much.
If you really want to see sexism in Scooby, check out "The Ghost of Bigfoot." Fred actually says that it was too dangerous for the girls to look for clues somewhere in the episode!

The way they treat Velma in some episodes was mean, but not sexist. Also, she and Daphne kind of failed the Bechdel Test while other female convesations passed it. Lastly, Daphne could have focused on other things rather than Fred. This does not make the entire show misogynistic, but it would have been an improvement.
Can you give me some examples of stuff in SDMI that struck you as sexist?

I think Daphne not being able to stop thinking about men in general is sort of sexist, an example would be when she broke up with Fred, the next episode she was obsessed with Baylor. I have read many reviews of the show where people love the show and don't think it's sexist, but I've also read a bunch of reviews where people say the sexism is awful and that they hate the show. One review even said that the person was going to shoot up the WB studio for how sexist the show was. Overall, I've never thought as the show as over-the-top sexist, I've only seen a few brief examples like I mentioned.

i disagree on its being over the top sexist. if anything, this is perhaps the most blunt scooby we have ever had, not afraid to tackle or hint at topics previous scooby incarnations would have never touched, death, betrayal, heck even lesbianism. ok so daphne is a tad obsessed about fred, but then fred is utterly obsessed about traps to the point where 'one track mind', might apply to him.

I don't know about sexist, but the show's definitely sexier than previous series and maybe for some that's essentially the same thing. There have been a lot of strong female characters, but they're sometimes pretty scantily clad, cutesy, or play up to some stereotype like the Swedish girls. So kind of a mixed bag maybe.
