We're one week out here in the USA from seeing the final episodes of SDMI.
My take:
A, it's great to see they are planned to be released on DVD very soon. t?
B. at least it's over. It's been an interesting second season, First was great, second has been good since about the 6th episode, i could leave the first 6 episodes though. Production values were up, but, what happened with those?
C. Blu Ray releases of classics: I'd like to see HD scans of the classic series now. We need to have copies that match or exceed the granularity of the original prints before anything happens.
D. Is there a new show? I've heard things bantered around. "Hey There, Scooby Doo!" and "How are you, Scooby Doo?" have been the 2 loudest pings for a new series. Both sound like they might harken back to the WNSD style. Considering that just sells better, go for it, but do it in Widescreen ofcourse, for the first time outside of movies. If i could get a job and they want to do my Coast to Coast full series idea, i'd be game! LOL. It gives me a Scooby World to play with.
E. SDMI was so contrived. So, there's no Coolsville or whatever. There was Crystal Cove. Okay, but where was that? No idea. Then, somehow there was a Vernsian style Underwater Nazi science camp , and there's 'Gatorsburg'.... and uh... i guess there's a major highway that a biker gang comes through... ... in a day and age where we have tablets and smartphones and GPS, all hooked up to Velma, this was a huge disappointment in the 'modernist' take.
