Hello everyone/
I have decided to reboot the current rp,, due to clutter and general inactivity. We will be starting over in the new year with a new story. Rules for the Rp:
1. try and keep out of character(OOc) discussions to the discussion thread
2. Dont take over other rps characters unless they give you permission.
3 Anyone who wants to play is welcome
4 No character limit, if you want to play 5 characters you can.
There will be a list of characters in this threead, people who want to play and want to add in characters will have thier characters listed and added. People who leave the rp can release thier charactes, afterwards, anyone who wants to play asthem can take them
Any questions, feel free to ask..

That sounds like a good idea!
I think #2 is extremely important: Don't take over other characters unless they give you permission.
It felt like in the first rp that someone was asking "This person hasn't been on the forum in ______ days, can I take over that character?" every few posts, and that got really annoying and caused a lot of the clutter.
Also, I think something that should be added to #2 is that you should ask permission to play another person's character on this discussion thread. Otherwise, anyone can say they asked someone permission when they really didn't, and that could cause a lot of unneeded arguing. This way, if someone says they asked, we can go back and check if they really asked or if they are just lying.
Another thing I wanted to add is: If you say you are going to play another character, please play that character or give that character to someone else. A lot of people said they were going to play characters last time and then they never did, which limits the story because then you can't play that character.

May I suggest that when characters are assigned, they each post in a particular set color in the game thread?
Maybe also make a rule that if a character is abandoned for a certain period of time (30days?), then they can be considered open again?
Once you guys are set with your plans/story/rules/start date/etc, we can promote the character sign up period with an announcement thread at the top of each section

set color is good as long as the type is still readable. nothing that blends in or makes it hard on the eyes. and we can adapt the 30 day rule. i'd like to get 5-6 posters to commit to characters, so we can have a rotation of posters postng. the more, in my experience the better.

Thanks Doo. I'll be velma and dixie again. the plot of the story is this: The gang are asked to investigate an old fort near Vicksburg that is reported to be haunted. During the siege of Vicksburg during the civil war, many of the towns wealthiest families hid thier most valuable possessions somewhere in the fort for safekeeping. but after vicksburg was taken the clues to the location were lost, and espite the efforts of the townsfolk, no clues have sprung up. the gang must solve he mystery of the fort..

I'm an old-school RPG player (dice, Pencils, papers etc) where you have a Games/Dungeon Master running the show how does this on-line thing work and does anyone get to roll the dice?

Theres no dice or anything like that. What you do russm is pick a character or characters and play as them. Lets say you want to be fred. then you would play as Fred, describe his character, what he likes to do, things like that. theres no limit to the number of posts you can post in the roleplay, as long as you have something to add, you can do so.so if you want to play, feel free to join. you can post whenever you want, once the roleplay starts.

OK I get that, is there someone in overall control? Say I was playing a villain and wanted to set up a trap (or a distraction of some kind) how would that be coordinated, via PM?
