CN got one of it's highest ratings ever for episodes yesterday, including SDMI's "Nightfright." It was assumably because of Nick's dumb "Worldwide Day of Play." For 6 hours straight, there was nothing on Nick intentionally, just a loud beeping noise and a message saying "Turn off the TV and go outside. You need exercise." I mean, really? They really think kids going outside will boost their ratings? That'll just convert kids to CN or Disney Channel.

I think the day of play would work if all the stations did it. Nickelodeon has great intentions, but yeah it will definitely just force kids to go to other networks to watch TV.

Reminds me of back in 2000-2002, Nickelodeon had a somewhat similar stunt. They would play a bumper before their more superior, no-longer-in-production shows like "Ren and Stimpy" and "Rocko's Modern Life," which features "It's summer. Go outside. We'll be here when you get back." I think what they were doing was intentionally lowering the ratings on those shows so they could be taken off the air! (It must have sadly worked, too!)

This time it was different. There was no shows at all, just beeping noises and a message airing for 6 hours saying "You need exercise."
