And to think it nearly didn't get on the air because CBS rejected the presentation art of its developmental titles Mysteries Five and Who's Scared?. It was CBS daytime programming chief Fred Silverman and, indirectly, Frank Sinatra who invoked the changes into what we know now as Scooby Doo.

For all the generalized labeling that network executives are evil, this one sure did the right thing! Happy Birthday Scooby-Doo! (which sounds like it should be a DTV title at some point...hope they do it in 7 years)

Happy Birthday Scooby-Doo! (which sounds like it should be a DTV title at some point...hope they do it in 7 years) It was actually the title of the first episode of The New Scooby Doo Mysteries in 1984. Another tidbit: In 1974, when CBS brought Where Are You! back after a two-year hiatus ( Movies had played in those two years), Hanna-Barbera wanted to make new episodes. But CBS felt they could get as much if not more mileage out of repeats of the 1969 and 1970 shows. (H-B had two shows debuting on CBS in 1974-- Partridge Family: 2200 A.D. and Valley Of The Dinosaurs.)
