Yes, I agree. While this isn't directly related to SOPA(technically congress dropped it on Friday), this is just as scary.

Frankly if Disney adnd other comopanies just set up thier own sites with acess to content only they have ' Care Bears Talespin, old movies etc) and put them online themselves that would have an impact on piracy. Piracy is a real concern but squashing creativity is not the way to do it.

Piracy is a real concern but squashing creativity is not the way to do it. So true. My biggest thing is like, these companies are still making millions of dollars. If they were going bankrupt because of it I`d understand. But most people can barely afford essential things now adays never mind buying dvds, cds and movie tickets. So downloading is easier for all of us. I dont know about you guys but when I download something and I really like it, I go out and buy the dvd, or whatever.

PLUS, I also think its wrong for megaupload to be making money on copyright things. Understandable. But when people are not making money off of it, It`s silly. Like I said, these companies are making millionsss of dollars.
If that makes sense lol.

The thing that irratates me is 150,000 per infringement? Thats bull. I could understand $100 per show and $50 for song for who uploads them and having $20 per episode and $7 per song for who downloads it. That is a big profit. Then send that money to who lost the money. That I'd be fine with. Companies would still make a huge profit. Now I could see making a 5 year jail sentence and losing everything they own for big sites that put up only copyrighted material.
I may watch Scooby Doo, Reba, That 70s Show, and all grown up on Youtube but I own the complete Reba Series on DVD, I own almost everything scooby doo on DVD even my bed spread is scooby doo. I own several all grown up dvds and if they'd release seasons I'd buy them all. I have the first 2 seasons of That 70s Show coming in the mail. I planned to buy the whole series at once but a new publisher took over.
My problem is nothing is on TV days I like and I have no idea how to legally put my dvds on my computer. Otherwise I'd be watching those while surfing the web.

The worst part is that some people have paid more in fines and do more jail time for piracy than others have gotten for rape and murder. It's a sad world we live in

Suddenly, I'm glad I never upload or download anything. I watch Scooby online, but usually it's on YouTube.
