I retracted my vote, if done well it can be cute. The writers seemed to prove that they can't write it well, lol.

It's a bad idea, Shelma as shown in Mystery Inc just doesn't work. Velma's too high strung and when Shaggy tried to loosen her up a bit...she sent him back to Scooby. Even after Velma made him do something he'd never do...leave Scooby for her. Also maybe Frelma should be played with again, seeing as Velma has plenty of things in common with Fred, orange clothes...smarty pants members even if Fred's a bit of a conspirist/trap obsessive, chose science and book related careers...i'm surprised MI didn't toy with Frelma while trying to force Shelma.

I love the idea, but I know others don't. I also know SD:MI did so many things wrong with their characters - Shaggy's handling of the relationship thing was deceitful and dishonorable - and written simply for the sake of 'drama'.

I switched seeing as in the canon stuff Shelma didn't get annoying, i thought the hand holding was cute in Blue falcon and it seemed as if in stage fright Shelma seemed to have already been a thing at least for awhile seeing as how calm they were about hooking Fred and Daphne up. I bet those two films take place prior to Season 2 of SDWAY seeing as that is the logical time frame for those two to happen and it's not like going cross country during every summer is unheard of.

Having gone on a bit of a binge in looking through the older DC comics there does seem to be a Velma/Shaggy/Scooby vibe. This isn't a 'therefore shelma!' post but they do interact a lot more in the comics, sometimes having 'mini stories' of a few pages to themselves which I think would plant the idea in people's heads.

Even in the latest team up books there's frephne/shelma stuff. Especially in the Super Friends and Captain Marvel books. Who'd of thought that Jinkies and Zoinks were magic words! I'm hoping that Jeepers! Ruh-Roh! And Hold the phone! are magic words too.

I am not fond of this pairing at all. I always have the feeling that it's easy because, if Fred and Daphne are connected, Shaggy and Velma must be as a counterbalance. It didn't feel very natural for me.
When i watched Scooby-Doo Where are you, it was clear there where something between Fred and Daphne. Shaggy/Velma was less clear in comparaison, because even if they split up together often, Scooby was always there, so it was a team of three, not two (even if it's a dog, it's reduced the attention for the Shaggy/Velma duo) and it was very often because Fred tell them to go together. I am not so sure Velma especially wanted to be with them, thought there are times when she go with them without Fred orders. I think Shaggy and Velma were rather close in the first serie, but not necessarily a couple. Velma liked Shaggy, that is sure, but she also not seemed to find him very...bright and be a bit annoyed by the way Shaggy and Scooby acted. She was often bossy toward them, and even a bit agressive, or uncaring sometimes. She doesn't seemed to care that mutch about them. She and Fred often give the impression that the mysteries are more important for them than everything, more important than their friends and Shaggy and Scooby in particular. I don't feel this is the attitude a girl will have towards the man she loves. Because of this, despite a few moments between them in the first serie, i don't think Velma loved Shaggy. And for Shaggy...i never mutch feel he was attracted to Velma. He danced with her sometimes, but this can seem normal since there was two boys and two girls, and Fred already danced with Daphne. He probably danced with her as friends. Thought they had a few moments of closeness, i think he was mutch more interested by food and having fun with Scooby than by her. They are very incompatible in my opinion. Shaggy is too cool, too lazy and...motivated by other things for Velma. Velma is too rigid (at least the first version of the character, the Velma of What's a new Scooby-Doo is cooler, but still a little too mutch different from the Shaggy/Scooby duo!) and too mutch down to earth for Shaggy. I don't see them together at all. To be honest, i don't see the Velma of the first series with mutch people, she never appeared to be very friendly for me. While she was light up a bit more in later incarnations, i still feel she wasn't someone who was very warm in the original show. And also to be honest, i only see Shaggy with someone who had a dog. It's cliché, i know, but i feel like this, Shaggy and Scooby will never seem be separed. Velma was good with the detective of Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island, or with her co-worker in the movie in egypt.

I chose "ok".
First off, I think pushing relationships at all in SD is distracting and a mistake. But if they had to, I'd rather they took the less traditional routes such as Frelma or Shaphne. As I've mentioned in other comments, I think those pairings would be more compatible than you'd think (Fred and Velma could possibly find some common ground, one being a trap/gadget geek and the other being the intelligent nerd - and because of the stretch of time where both Shaggy and Daphne were the only human members of the team, it wouldn't be too farfetched to imagine a scenario with them together).
