I actually enjoyed these two episodes a bit more than the previous ones. It was nice that they focused more on the mystery at hand rather than the humor, and it was cool to see the backstory to Velma's mom and Daphne's parents' disappearance. I laughed at quite a few of the jokes, particularly the ones where someone crashes headfirst out a window when the police mention intolerance; the flashback where the owner says "Mine's closed. Everyone's fired!" randomly with no explanation; and especially Velma's father explains putting a tracking app on Velma's phone by saying "Sophie installed it so you wouldn't catch us in bed talking smack about you!" Velma's father needing to Google "how to play catch" was also hilarious. The bit with Velma's dad taking her to a strip club was a bit over the top for me, not because I found it overly inappropriate but moreso just because it was really weird, especially the scene in which the guys are chanting "Oh yeah baby, keep it all on!" as Velma does a pole dance.
The mystery with Daphne's parents felt a little rushed, like it takes Daphne's parents a couple seconds to explain everything and that subplot is over, which felt anticlimactic. I suppose it's possible her old parents will come back, but if they don't, I feel that could have been developed a bit more. I'm intrigued by the serial killer plot and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with that and Velma's mother, and how it's connected to the murders.
