www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6fnxa5615cDunno why no one is talking about this, I find it a big deal. I didn't watch the entire interview yet but Mitch Watson basically confirmed in the last part of it that him and Tony get calls from Warner Bros every 1-2 years to make a SDMI Season 3 after it had success on Netflix. Apparently they both want to make it, only problem is time and whether they get the whole old team on board and whether they manage to find a plot good enough to match the last seasons. Plus, a MI character will make a cameo in Scoob 2 and he mentions a crossover as well though it is unclear whether it is the cameo itself or an entire different project. Anyways, I find this exciting and Im hopeful for a return of the show, what are your thoughts?

Difficult one, I really disliked a lot of what they did with the characters, especially in the 1st series as the relationships between the gang were quite toxic at times. I almost gave up on the show because it seemed more teen soap opera than anything else. They seemed to drop a lot of that in the second half and let the underlying story take over so I was glad to have watched it to the end.
So it depends, if they're going back to Scooby Doo:Socially Dysfunctional of the first part then no thank you, if it's more like the second then it could be good.

Understandable point of view, though that’s precisely what I liked about the show. The interaction of a real group of friends who don’t always have to agree on everything and are indeed flawed and human-like. Velma’s sassiness and anger issues covering her insecurities over her sexuality, Fred’s autism weighing on his relationships and the way grief and the people around him let him down change his perspective and break that hard shell of leader, just for him to recover later on. Scooby and his fears of being replaceable. I think they had incredible evolutions we had never seen before in a Scooby series and that’s what made their relationship as a group even stronger. I think I enjoyed the first season more exactly for this aspect, although season 2 also had some great emotional moments. I think the gang should be fleshed out more into real human-like traits like in MI and Be Cool, Where Are You and What’s New, and less of running around like brainless pawns like Guess Who.

I don't believe they could pull off a Season 3 that matched the others. Would be happy to be proven wrong. No ToonBoom animation, for starters.

Help! They're making me dream. As a SDMI widow, I would love a season 3, there's a lot of things that could be explored, like Fred's (new) relation with his parents and Velma and Marcie relationship. The miskatonic university is also a interesting set. For the Scoob 2 cameo, I'm guessing Sheriff Stone, since he was supposed to appear in Scoob! as shown by some sketches and images of the unfinished product.

I’m only here for it if they bring Mindy back as Velma for it, and if they make the relationship between her and Marcie’s relationship explicit. (Not sexually explicit. Just make it crystal clear that they’re together.)

...I think the gang should be fleshed out more into real human-like traits like in MI and Be Cool, Where Are You and What’s New, and less of running around like brainless pawns like Guess Who. Interesting, I found Be Cool to be the coldest representation of the gang out of all the various versions to the extent that at times their interactions resembled that of 4 people that had never met before or shared anything in common with each other beyond that they were in a van with a dog. Back to SD:MI it was always going to leave me cold as I don't like soap operas in general, the contrived 'drama' on top of contrived 'drama' just grinds my gears. As for a potential series 3, I'm with elemage, make Velma & Marcie's relationship on-screen canon and bring back Mindy Cohn as Velma.

Personally hope they don't bring this one back due to the toxic personalities of the gang. Would rather have the Looney Tunes Show revived considering the popularity it has gained since the late 2010's.

I'd love for it to happen. Thought the first two seasons were a well done modern interpretation that changed things up while keeping the spirit of the franchise.

It's confirmed that emails have been sent discussing the possibility. Sadly, nothing more than that.

I'm less hopeful on this now than I was a little earlier than a year ago. With Zaslav slashing all things Scooby left and right I don't feel there's any chance for this to happen now. Hope to be proven wrong, but I just can't believe this is a real probability anymore, even if Mitch and Tony call WB today ready to do this.
I could see this getting greenlit, made, and then canceled before airing however.

I don't believe they could pull off a Season 3 that matched the others. Would be happy to be proven wrong. No ToonBoom animation, for starters. Also, some of the violence they might not be able to get away with nowadays, not after some certain tragic events. I remember at least one episode having a scene looking similar to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing that happened a mere ten days after the series finale aired! And there's no way they'd get away with someone getting shot to death nowadays, not even off-screen. (Even animated shows aimed at adults now have to watch it with guns and weaponry, unless if they're intentionally trying to be offensive, i.e. "South Park" and "Family Guy".) Additionally, regarding the animation, Warner Bros. Animation hasn't used DongWoo A&E Co. Ltd (who animated most of the episodes) or Lotto Animation (who animated the intro and some of the more fluid and/or violent episodes) for several years now. But Snipple Animation could probably do a really good job, having seen their fantastic work for WB. (You've heard me talk about their fun bouncy fluid animation in their "Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?" episodes before.) I also wonder if they could get Mindy Cohn to voice Velma for it?

i would be fine with bringing it back for a third season. 1 agree with making marcies and Velma relationship explicit and canon - which would include having them kiss on the lips. i would like to se more of sheriff stone. he was always a funny character. plus the university hints at the end of season 2 just beg to be explored. the interlocking mystery of MI really made it stand out from the other Scooby shows, pretty much every other shows had a villain of the week/ episode.

>beg to be explored
Yes! I'm reading the Call of Cthulhu sourcebook on Miskatonic University and plan to note (maybe even expand/merge) elements that fit the Scooby canon. The university even has a theme song with sheet music?!
