As I was catching up on Scooby news on here, I found this comment from scoobyfan27 that imo needs its own discussion/speculative thread and I didn't want to derail the thread it's in: There are good crossovers in this franchise (i.e. this Courage one, some Guess Who episodes, etc.). That being said, It's not the "following the money" part that has me curious, it's the "crossovers are selling more than the ones where the gang is alone" part. Is that giving anyone else pause as well? Or it is just me? What are your thoughts on why this is happening?

With regard for the sales figures, well the saying goes, citation needed. Unfortunately scoobyfan27 didn't provide any evidence or link to original source material to support that claim. The flip side is that if the ones with the gang in are selling as expected, then there's no problem, we can assume as they keep producing them that they're selling enough to make it worth while doing them.
That being said would it be too much of a surprise if the Courage movie did really well, or Scoobynatural? I can't comment on Guess Who as there's something about that show that doesn't gel with me, it's like all the ingredients are there but something isn't cooked right. The point of crossovers is to get other people in, and hope that some of them stay.

I do remember seeing some figures once, I really don't recall where, and all the crossovers were the highest selling amongst the straight-to-dvd movies. The explanation could be as easy as the fact that the movies brings together double the amount of fans.

I think it's absolutely, at least in part, that crossovers are bringing in double the fans which causes sales figures to be higher, like Scoobylover said. Since the target audience of this is technically children (even though it can be watched and enjoyed by anyone), another explanation could be that WB is attempting to target parents by having Scooby team up with celebrities they may know. For example, maybe a lot of parents have fond memories of listening to KISS or enjoy watching celebrity chefs, therefore making it more likely for them to buy the film to enjoy it with their kids.
