Rewatching Scooby-Doo Where Are You? made me really appreciate how the first series had such an array of fun, creepy, goofy monsters for the gang to run away from so I thought it be fun to make some lists about them. Talk about the best motives, coolest monsters, silliest and saddest looking monsters. I find it just a blast to explore the ways they took this series with its rogues. So I ask everyone else which were your Best and Worst monsters?
Mine are in the thumbnails below, Spooky Space Kook for Best cause his haunting laugh and design just blow almost every other monster from the first seasons out of the water. And the Ghost of Elias Kingston for the Worst, as the first series did have 4 monsters that had similar looks (which I dubbed Creeper Clones based off the most popular even though Elias came first) and Elias just came across as delightfully inept out of the bunch. A funny monster with a weird power, and a totally emasculating capture sequence. He's wonderfully silly ^_^

Wow, a shame the Ape Man has often been making the bottom 5 lists. Then again, he was kind of generic for a monster (but maybe not as bad as in "The No-Face Zombie Case" when the crook wore a similar gorilla suit as a simple disguise.) Though I will admit that as much as I enjoy the Ape Man, there have been better villains. Heck, as for the Ape Man disguising as Scooby-Doo to pull the mirror routine, that seems more like something Big Bob Oakley from "A Gaggle of Galloping Ghosts" could do (as Big Bob Oakley IS a master of disguise!)

I thought the scene where he disguised himself as Scooby was cool, I just ranked him low because of his genericness as a villain. He wasn't a bad villain, but the majority of others were less generic than this one, which is why the Ape Man has never been one of my favorites from this series.

I think the episode is a lot of fun but they never once try to really play up the legend of the Ape-Man. We pretty much know it's Carl from the moment we see him in that trunk.

Yeah, I have to agree that was a little weak how they made it blatant it was Carl the Stuntman from the start. Of course, I poked fun at that in my version of the episode where the Muppet Babies join the Scooby gang in the mystery... www.deviantart.com/wilee2005/art/Scooby-Doo-the-Muppet-Babies-and-the-Ape-Man-850037311

I liked the robot episode, but it's understandable just how quickly it aged. Certain part of that episode almost feel more like Johnny Quest than Scooby to me, come to think of it. The giant magnet especially seems sort of... out of place? The episode is paced strangely, too.

It just kinda starts out of nowhere and then there's a whole slew of chases and action sequences all throughout the park. It's all part of the episodes charm though and I still think Charlie looks futuristic in 2021. That big magnet though ... Yeah, that's rough!
