I managed to watch the show this past week, it was a pretty fun way to spend the time though the episodes do get a bit dull after watching more than 2-3 in a row. The show has some sort of charm, I mean I always liked how crowded it is given the amount of characters included (and not only in the main teams, there are also the commentators and other special guests that appear occasionally).
It's not exactly a Scooby show, so fans looking for more of that might be a bit disappointed given the team captain of the Scooby Doobies doesn't get that much screen-time. In a way it's cool how the show featured more separate Scooby shows, as it originally aired (as part of a 2 hours block, including episodes of The Scooby-Doo Show and re-runs of Where Are You!, alongside new at the time stuff like Captain Caveman and Dynomutt). To be fair I never really thought Scooby and Yogi would fit that well together in the same cartoon. They're both anthropomorphic animals but their styles seem to clash a little. The only other project I can think of where they appeared together would be the Arabian Nights movie, where I don't recall them even sharing a scene.
The roster of characters was pretty good overall. We had classic Hanna-Barbera animals for Yogi's team. Mystery solving characters and their pets for Scooby's team. And then the Rottens, which mostly had original characters though some were "evil" interpretations of previous characters like Mumbly, or the Creeplys (they had the same designs as with some characters from The Flintstones). I did like how they made fun of this years later on Robot Chicken.
The events were fun for the most part. Some were based on real life sports, but others were pretty ridiculous ideas which made things a little more amusing. The settings for the games were good, they pretty much covered the entire planet (and the Moon in the final episode!).
There's probably some more stuff I could say, but as a whole the show is still kind of fun. Maybe not made for binge-watching or whatever, but it does have its moments. Looking back I did enjoy this, but have to admit none of the events really stood out to me. Not even the ones where the underdogs in the Rottens team won without cheating. I doubt I will really re-visit any of the episodes until the next Olympic games, though you never know.
