Not a fan of this episode. I didn't enjoy the lighting effects used while in the forest, but I can't hold it against them because it is semi-realistic. The environments felt really rushed, except the tree house. They spent too much time running in circles. Jessica Biel was a boring guest star, especially at the beginning with the realtor and oilman. The only things that were really good was the bridge callback to Never Ape an Apeman, and scooby's jungle cat.

I wasn't a big fan of this episode either. The environments felt rushed, Jessica Biel didn't seem into her role, and the gorilla was kind of a lame villain. It wasn't unwatchable but it was one of the worst episodes of the series IMO.

Haha I actually loved the episode it’s in my top 5 for sure. I thought the animation was gorgeous and the action scenes were so captivating and had me hooked. I really loved the door gag but with the vines I thought that was pretty creative. My only gripe was I wish the Gorilla design was a bit more monstrous like it just looked like a big gorilla haha. But other than that solid episode.
The more I watch this series the more I feel it’s superior to The New Scooby Movies.
I wish The New Scooby Movies had this level of animation. That would’ve been perfect.

Another bland episode. I like the flashy animation tho, and the motive was different at least. I actually love the lighting in the forest

Ooooh, I liked hearing the classic "kookaburra bird" sound effect Hanna-Barbera often used when the gang was in the jungle, even if it's not an accurate sound (kookaburras live in Australia.)
Heh, that was fun how they initially want to protect the huge gorilla, thinking it's a new species, instead of wanting to capture him, the way they did with the Ape Man and the "No Face Zombie Chase Case" gorilla and the "Night of the Upsetting Shorts" ape. LOL at the leaves popping off the tree from Shaggy's sneeze with the H-B "foof!" sound effect.
Fred getting them through the mine's traps was pretty cool! I enjoy when he gets competent like that.
LOL at Velma finally not getting something before she can tell someone how it would make "perfect sense." OK, I was NOT expecting the giant gorilla to actually be another smaller gorilla in a mecha suit! That was a fun little twist. And I enjoyed Velma finding it nice to have someone else explain the mystery for a change.

Was that sound effect used in other Hanna-Barbera shows besides Scooby? I just recognized it from "Hassle in the Castle."

I know "The Flintstones" sometimes used it to add to the prehistoric ambience, but otherwise not as often. And while it wouldn't necessarily count (as they were produced by the Cartoon Network Studios division), "I Am Weasel" often used it as a comical sound as part of music cues accompanying I.R. Baboon. I believe the sound may have originated from Warner Bros. Animation, as they used it in several Looney Tunes cartoons (my favorite instance is in "Duck Amuck" when Daffy begins making random noises, at one point he makes that kookaburra sound.) Disney also used it a bit as well, such as in "The Jungle Book" (the 1967 animated classic, that is.)

Oh gotcha, now that you say it, I think I remember it being used in "Fred's Island" from The Flintstones. Thanks!
