Why had I not known about this?! I watched it today and that was surprisingly well done! I can see why they did not replay it, was a bit creepy for the younger audience.

I'm still waiting for it to be released on some DVD as bonus content in decent quality, the truth is that I don't know if it has ever been released on DVD but I'm 99% sure it hasn't. It's a pretty funny special episode. The truth is that it has more doses of "terror" than the usual Scooby-Doo (I have to admit that the first time I saw it I expected a kid-friendly jumpscare, the mood was perfect for it sometimes), but it could perfectly be in the Happy Halloween DVD, Scooby-Doo. At least it would be more interesting than the umpteenth DVD release of "A Scooby-Doo Halloween", "The Headless Horseman of Halloween", "A gaggle of galloping ghosts" or "Hassle in the castle".

I prefer Night of the Living Doo myself, but both are great specials! I wish CN/Boomerang/WB had done more of the darker, introspective/self deprecating comedic one-offs like this. I think they're really funny. Love to see the Scooby crew take a lighthearted jab in the mirror, so to speak.
A great break from the otherwise 'straight' comedic shows & DTVs.
And sassy Fred is something I didn't know I wanted so badly, lol! Frank Welker was just on a roll in the trilogy: Johnny Bravo crossover - Scooby-Doo Project - Night of the Living Doo.

We do have it in HD tho, just making sure you’re aware of that!

The Good news here is that the major barrier why WB could not release it on their own, is going to be one of those things gone with Turner. Despite WB owning the Home media departments for Time Warner, Turner and HBO still had complete say over if their products could be released. I believe stuff like The Scooby Doo Project, Night of the Living Doo, Flintstones On the Rocks all still fell on the Turner side. Once the legal is cleared that barrier should be gone.
I imagine the real sign that had happened will be Warner Archive putting out another CN dvd. Which so far hasn't happened yet.
Also just so we're clear the Scooby Doo project bumps aired on four days that year. Once on the Where Are You marathon. Then two days over a weekend for the Scrappy marathon (which the scrappy bumps were for) and the movie marathon (which the movie theater bumps were for) and then once more the next month when Scooby Doo and the Witch's Ghost debuted.
The narrative about it only airing once because it scared kids is one of those revisionist narratives that was only partially accurate. It's just some areas of the CN fandom repeated it so often that rest believed it.
