A/N: The following story is my idea of what a fresh Scooby-Doo reboot would look like and is my way of celebrating the golden anniversary of the Franchise. I only own the story, all characters are (c) to WB in association with Hanna-Barbera Productions.
In a town known as Coolsville, OH some children were about to meet for the very first time at Kelly's Malt Shop where the atmosphere was forever 1969 despite the actual year being 1998. Kelly who was a sandy blonde haired woman with deep blue eyes that often wore a sleeveless lilac turtleneck with a turquoise skirt and black shoes had called two families and asked them each if their children had any friends outside of their family, which sadly was only the pets of the Rogers boy, while the Blake girl if she had any was only liked for her family's fortune in bubble bath. The Rogers boy, now having arrived and at this point was still sporting a light brown buzz cut and had brown eyes with an outfit consisting of a green v-neck t-shirt with blue jeans and grey shoes was a regular customer with two puppies that followed him around, both great danes, one wore a nice pink sweater with a purple collar over it and the other just sported a turquoise collar with each having diamond shaped dogtags with the initials RD & SD respectively. The Blake girl who was already seated inside with a special made treat for each was known to have slightly spiky red hair held into a bob by a white headband and wore a pink sweater and maroon skirt with a matching maroon bandana, pink tights and white ankle boots. It was an interesting moment when...
"There he is Daphne, the young boy I wanted you to meet, Norville "Buzz" Rogers, my best customer, and his canine friends Scooby and his sister Ruby Doo." Kelly said as she pointed to the boy and his pups. "Buzz, this is Daphne Blake, she's new in town and I thought you two might have something in common, what with your insane appetites and all."
"Like Zoinks!" Buzz commented as he reached out to hi-five Daphne who for once didn't care if she was about to look goofy and hi-fived him back. "Nice to finally meet someone who actually has an appetite like ours.
"Thanks, also Ruby's quite fashionable in my eyes, purple is my favorite color alongside pink and green." Daphne replied.
"Glad you like it, you are quite fashionable yourself." Ruby remarked.
"Jeepers!" Daphne exclaims. "She can talk?"
"Reah, ro ran I, rice to reet rou." Scooby calmly replied.
"What did he say?" Daphne asked still a bit puzzled about talking dogs, but didn't think anything of it.
"He said he can talk too, and that it was nice to meet you." Buzz remarked. "Say seeing as this is the malt shop, would you like a strawberry-lime-raspbery-orange-chocolate-banana-grape-cherry-peanut butter malt?"
"Thanks, nice to meet you too Scooby." Daphne said. "Also, this is the first time anyone has ever asked me if I wanted something that wasn't my house staff or parents...and actually guessed all my favorite flavors. I would be delighted to have one."
"Groovy!" Buzz exclaims as he reaches out to pay, but Kelly stops him. "Kelly, one of the usual, with four straws this time, here's one dollar and fifty cents for all those flavors."
"Buzz, this one is on the house." Kelly remarked as she hands him the malt and straws as she went to a different section of the store that wasn't the lunch counter. "I have it already prepared for you four, I'll go tend to my other customers now and let you talk."
"So what brought you to Coolsville?" Buzz inquires as he politely only took one sip as did Ruby and Scooby so that Daphne could have a taste.
"My flair for the retro and somewhat strange, we read in a newspaper at our old home in Crystal Cove, California that Coolsville was just the place for both." Daphne explains after taking a few sips of the malt. "Also, my dad Nedley thought it would be a good place for me to open a buisness of some kind, but my mother Elizabeth thought I should take things slow, I agree with her about it. I want to enjoy myself for awhile."
"Like, if you want retro you've come to the right place." Buzz comments. "Also, you can be yourself around us."
"That's awfully nice of you, want to be friends?" Daphne asks.
"Of course." Buzz answers as the two pooches also agree and they shake on it and rapidly finish their malt before getting a slight brainfreeze.
"Rhis is rhe reginning rof a reautifal friendship." Scooby comments.
"What my big brother said." Ruby echoed as the group shared their first hug and Daphne whispered something about a mystery related to comic books into Buzz's ear as Kelly looked on from a distance and reflected on the day.
"Those two remind me of myself and my husband W.W. at that age." Kelly thought to herself. "They don't know it yet, but soon they'll discover that solving mysteries will give them a strong bond, though trying to take something dangerous out of Coolsville will attempt to take them out first, like it unfortunatley did to our canine companion, Too Much, who was too brave for her own good, but saved us in the end."
A/N: This is how i pictured Daphne and Shaggy as well as Scooby and Ruby meeting each other. Overtime...Buzz will become Shaggy, but right now he's only 8 and Daphne is 7. Later on we'll meet Fred, Velma, Flim Flam, Skippy, Yabba and Howdy and yes eventually Scrappy and Vincent, but right now it's just Shaggy & Daphne and their dogs.
