In the 90s, there was a lot of buzz about Mike Myers writing a Scooby-Doo movie and casting himself as Shaggy. Does anyone know why that didn't come about or have any information about his script?

Couldn't find much on why he left the project, but I would guess that he didn't like James Gunn script for the movie and moved on to other projects. Wished he stayed on the project. Would love to see Mike Myers play Shaggy.

Would love to see Mike Myers play Shaggy. Apparently Myers' script was going to be an origin movie about Daphne, Fred, and Velma attending a summer camp and meeting Shaggy and Scooby who are living out of their van. Would've been interesting.

It would have been similar in tone to what the 2002 movie was originally going to be i.e. more satirical adult jokes. Brian Levant was actually offered to direct it!
