I love, love, loved this episode! It's probably my favorite so far for so many reasons!! First off, I love episodes where Shaggy feels so deeply about something that he sets aside his fear and decides the mystery is more important. In this he set aside his fear AND food to save his favorite baseball team! I love his determination and gusto. Then there's Daphne. I love her quirky, not always rhyme-y or coherent cheers throughout the episode, building up to her morale lifting speech in the locker room. I think that she, as well as the team dynamic for the gang, really shines in this episode. Fred and Velma's commentary during Shaggy, Scooby and Daphne's chase scene was insanely hilarious and fitting and I like that Velma actually found something to like about baseball, even if it was just the mathematical aspect of the statistics. And finally, Scooby setting aside his own fear, not for the love of baseball but for the love and support of his friend Shaggy, was just so touching. He stays and stands beside his friend even though it's hard; that's true friendship. Other things I appreciated were the chase music, which put me in mind of the music in A League of Their Own when the girls are making women's baseball sky rocket into popularity and Shaggy's interest in the game period. I think him loving baseball is just another layer to his character and adds to the others somehow because it seems as though the rest of the gang all finds something to like about it because he likes it. From the jokes to the baseball references to the bonding of our lovable Scooby gang, this episode totally hit a home run with me as a baseball fan and as a Scooby-Doo fan!!! Great work, Be Cool gang.

I wrote this episode with the very talented writer (and really good guy), Kevin Kramer and thought it came together really well, so I'm pleased it worked on all those levels for you - everything you mentioned were very purposeful and woven together to show new sides and dynamics in the gang we haven't seen before, so it's really gratifying to hear someone say such nice, perceptive things and notice. Cheers, JCB

You're very welcome! This series seems to be so well thought out and wonderfully put together that it's hard not to give it praise. I'll admit that I was very skeptical about it at first but I've been hooked since my first episode.
Y'all have done so well with each of the characters that I even find myself liking Fred and Velma, two characters that I've always been indifferent towards, despite my love for Frank Welker! Your experimentations with Daphne and Shaggy have even made me tolerate Grey DeLisle and Matthew Lillard in their roles. I believe another member here mentioned that some of the recent takes on Daphne made them grow tired of Ms. DeLisle as her va and I find that I shared the same view. This fresh new take on Daphne, however, has now made it to where I can listen to her play Daphne without cringing or thinking of Mystery Inc. I've never been overly fond of Lillard as Shaggy either; his portrayal always seemed forced and ingenuine. I'm not sure if it's the writing, years of growing into the role or a combination of the two but this is one Lillard-Shaggy I can get down with.
I do not give my praise lightly and I consider myself picky when it comes to my Scooby-media and revival cartoons in general so I honestly mean it when I say I'm genuinely enjoying this series and I'm anxiously awaiting more.

Well, then double thank you for your hard-earned praise! It's funny because Grey is actually, in person, SO much more like our version of Daphne than any other version of Daphne. She's REALLY funny and eccentric and kooky and so the part actually fits her like a glove. Maybe that's the difference? It's more naturally her so she totally GETS where THIS Daphne is coming from. Matt really takes his acting seriously and approaches Shaggy with with great respect and attention to detail, which is kinda funny when you think about the fact it's "Shaggy," but I have nothing but respect for what he's doing with the role and he'll question things in the script sometimes, protecting the character - which is really cool. He's usually right when he says, "I don't think Shaggy would say that." He's really put a lot of thought and time into the role - and he also totally gets our take on Shaggy, which is much less laconic "stoner" and much more Groucho misfit. Kate is also bringing so much of herself to Velma. She's so lovable as a person that it comes out in Velma in ways you can't even write in the script, but I know her voice and reads so well now that I can hear how she'll say it (and she, more than anyone, usually says her lines EXACTLY like I hear them the first time she says them). Frank is a legend and it's been challenging to try to change Fred on him - he's been doing the same basic Fred for 45 years. Our Fred talks and thinks faster and has a manic energy to him and he's also a large part young Gene Wilder, which is who I have in mind when I'm writing his dialogue. I think Frank has done some brilliantly funny work with Fred on this show and when Fred is at his funniest, I, personally, think the show is at its funniest. Oh, and btw, I love that particular screen shot of Daphne you chose as your avatar. Haha. I'm sorry, but I just LOVE Daphne in this series. She's so cool to me.

Oh, and btw, I love that particular screen shot of Daphne you chose as your avatar. Haha. I'm sorry, but I just LOVE Daphne in this series. She's so cool to me. Thank you so much for your responses here! I have seen elsewhere that others have taken notice of more writers from the show on fan sites and they think it's super cool and I have to say that I agree with them. It's amazingly cool that you and other writers find time to touch base with the fans. It feels like you guys are not only taking time and putting forth real effort on this show but that you actually care what fans think which is so rare in today's world of assembly line cartoons aimed at the masses with tawdry comedy and dumbed down jokes for small children. No more are the shows like Animaniacs that were alright for children but had mature humor cleverly peppered in so that there was something for everyone but Be Cool brings a bit of that back to the world of animation. I sincerely appreciate that as well as the information on the voice actors that you've generously provided!! I'm always fascinated by voice acting and what goes behind it and Frank Welker is definitely a king with his craft!! He's so amazing and can do the most wonderful things with his voice and I absolutely love that he's always been Freddie Jones. (With the exception of the Pup series.) You can definitely tell that this Daphne comes more naturally to Ms. DeLisle as she really shines in this series and the same can be said for Mr. Lillard. I honestly think that his past go-rounds as Shaggy have primed him for this. Be Cool's writing and comedic aspects fit him so much better than the teenage drama of Mystery Inc. and even the juvenile humor of the live action movies. This suits him and is actually probably one of my favorite versions of Shaggy, and the rest of the gang for that matter!! Everyone is portrayed so well from Daphne's personality quirks to Scooby's dry comments. As I said before: I've even taken a liking to characters that I've never been overly fond of before. All of these improvements however couldn't be possible without the writing so thank you. There's no praise given here that is not well deserved. Ah yes, that's one of my favorite stills of Daphne as well. I actually love that whole scene, nice throw back to Captain Cutler with that one. I have to say that I also love all the glimpses of the original series in this; all the moments that go back to the original show and the brief flashes of the retro silhouette of the gang. It's all amazing and I love it. (Though I do love the split-up shake-ups. This Daphne and Shaggy play off of each other so well, as well as this Fred and Velma.)

Maybe not exactly like this, but we shuffle around pairings and play with character dynamics often enough to keep it interesting - but, most of all, it must be motivated by the story. I think there's some GREAT Daphne/Velma scenes in "I Scooby Dooby Do."

I think this may have topped "The Unnatural" for me. How many times can you do an episode like this? But this definitely had a fun take on it.
Velma getting excited about statistics. She just redefines nerd.
