I'd rather see new episodes of these shows set in the same continuity as the originals (Main SD continuity from 1969-1988 then 1998 - present):
1. The Funky Phantom (preferably starring Tom Kenny as Mudsy) 2. Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan (minus Charlie Chan due to rights issues) 3. Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels 4. Clue Club 5. The Buford Files 6. Speed Buggy 7. Goober and the Ghost Chasers 8. Inch High Private Eye
I'd also like to see Scooby and the gang crossover in some of those new episodes now and then.

I love the Laff-a-Lympics and would love for it to be rebooted.

MI had funky phantom, speed buggy, captain caveman and the neptunes all appear, so they might consider adding those into the dvd mix at some point. However I think it's about time for some other cartoons from hb to get some exposure outside of the team up books or the reboot comics, maybe a new series about Johnny Quest or Space ghost.

I primarily say we fans of these properties have good hopes but should also stay realistic. The best way to utilize a lot of the other characters at first should be cross overs and movie opportunities. While it's clear the HB lessers have their fans, I'm not sure a lot right now would helm a reboot series all on their own.
Another idea is to head back to the dtv series well. Maybe make a season of episodes with various characters. You can sell it highly based around having some Scooby episodes, but also include cross overs and attempt a few with the lesser characters. Like in episode 2 see Scooby's gang and Speed Buggy's gang solve a case, then later here's a new solo Speed Buggy adventure. This could draw in old fans and introduce younger ones to the older characters all in the same set.
Those would be my honest marketing ideas on how to try to reinroduce mid-tier and lower-tier characters.

many of those characters were scooby clones, jabberjaw funky phantom etc. they all had the meddling kids and sidekick formula. Not only is mattprice right about rebooting, but i think hes generous on the chances. theres a reeason we havent seen reboots of speedy bugy or funky phantom or hong kong phooey. while they have fans, theres not enough of them.

It would have to be a very careful marketing campaign, slowly rebuilding brand awareness, rerunning the old shows and seeing what reaction there is. Remember that while the likes of me can remember most of those shows (not sure if all of them made it to the UK), the current viewers of Boomerang, CN, Disney etc will know only one cartoon from that era, Scooby Doo.

That's is more than likely what the plan is at the moment. It started just with the basic dvds. Now they are upping other merchandise, and then we have whatever S.C.O.O.B. hopes to accomplish. Learn to walk before we run. We can't put the cart before the horse.
However a lot of this variable we still need to consider. Hanna Barbera as a whole has a lot of things to prove here. There was a lull in their use after not getting used as anything other than parody for Turner. That being said if you head over to other places some people are still surprised year after year Hanna Barbera's underbelly is the one doing so well of WB's back catalog. But there's a major difference between having enough fans to get old releases, having enough fans for a new tv show, having enough fans for a movie franchise, etc.
While sure no one's doubting Scooby, Tom and Jerry or Fred Flintstone's appeal today, and no one expects any big to-do other than cameos from Loopy De Loop, Buford or Fantastic Max. But exactly how popular or not the middle ones are is going to be put to the test going forward. And I'm not sure which way it's going to turn out.

The way DC seems to be doing the reintroductions by incorporating hb & looney tunes into the rebirth continuity as part of the post-crisis New Earth (which was somehow set back 10 years) is apparently the route to go, then add the dvds & other merch.
