hey it could be worse i remember once hearing that the family guy creators was interested in reviving the flintstones tv show i freakin hate family guy everything about the show becomes boring way too fast so god help us if they do a version i have seen another clip with john cena and Daniel bryan which is pretty funny You don't need to worry about that ever happening. Although it was going to be made, the company dropped out lAst minute and Macfarlane has gone on making other things so a family guy style flint stones is definitely off the table - probably for the best!

Personally i think it looks good. Will be buying it on DVD. But the only thing that irked me in the trailer is the Barney voice going back to season 1 more nasal Barney voice. I never really like that version, I would have preferred Frank Welker just continuing the voice he gave Barney in the 90s.
And I think while WWE and WB are having a good working relationship on this, someone on WWE's side must have really loved the Flintstones for them to make a new one for the series, instead of the other franchise that still has many new productions and runs on attacking each other violence.....come on where's our WWE Tom and Jerry movie already?

Alright fresh off watching the feature and overall I'm pleased.
Let me start off by saying much like the current run of Scooby and Tom and Jerry movies if you've got your idea fixed on only the original I'd wager you'd find yourself disappointed in the new projects. This one pulls on different parts from different eras of Flintstone past. If you've gone along with the series, I'd bet you'd get more out of it.
There's the usual heart of best buddy friendship and hairbrained schemes that define so much of the Flintstone's plots There's some more mature elements to the writing reminiscent of the first two seasons of the original series Speaking of that Barney's voice actor indeed goes for that early season 1 nasal voice Mel Blanc did away with after his car accident, but he nails the Barney laugh There's also some more silly toon physics stuff more reminiscent of later saturday morning incarnations Dino, Hoppy and Babypuss get some screen time, which is cool The continued gag of new technology being Flintstonized is contiued like they did the in the 90s tv films Similar to the Scooby part, the guest star's world collies with Flintstones world, (i know some have a problem with this)
So in final verdict, if you like how WB continues Scooby and T&J I would recommend giving this one a shot too. There's some room for improvement if this start's a new series of dtv features. But I'd imagine this isn't really going to win over too many new fans but for this old school fan I think it did enough to make me happy.

Season 1-3 were good and then it turned into this racist, flat out hateful, ill-written mess that is it now. I stopped watching it all together.

I have never really watched Family Guy. I've seen a few episodes here and there. As weird as it seems to have Seth McFarlane redoing The Flintstones, I don't think he would have made it vulgar.

Because even McFarlane is smart enough to know messing with an icon like that would sink him. I'm glad you avoided the Family Guy craze. The day I saw the episode where they were making fun of Terri Schiavo was they day I decided I didn't need Family Guy in my life. So I switched to American Dad, which went down hill as well. Everything McFarlane attaches himself to is just one fart joke away from being a complete failure. From his typical animation line up I thought Cleveland Show was the best and for some reason its the one they canned. What really makes me laugh is when Family Guy's administrative starts trying to pick on other shows like Simpsons, King of the Hill, and Bob's Burgers. These shows may not have the following, but they sure work harder for the audience they do have.

I'm more inclined to have seen things differently. Seth MacFarlane's house style is one of a more juvenile tone, but at times is clever. He himself being one of the people brought into Hanna Barbera post Turner buyout could have some interest there to check out. I've enjoyed some of the gags referencing older material. I occasionally watch rerurns of his shows, but I don't always keep watching any religiously. But by contrast I don't think you could pay me to care to watch the likes of King of the Hill or Bob's Burgers. Those just annoyed the hell out of me.
But that project is clearly passed on now. We didn't get to see Seth MacFarlane make new Flintstones, but instead we got WB's dtv squad to give it a shot. And I liked it. I hope other's at least give it a chance. I'm just more concerned there's going to be complaints of "that isn't supposed to be in the Flintstones", but the people only seem to remember seasons 3-6 of the original series.

I do remember the first 3 seasons of the flintstones to be better as the storylines were sometimes mature as it dealt with real marital problems such as empowerment in the household , fear of spouse having a affair etc when pebbles and bamm bamm came into the scene it got a bit more family friendy and pc its even sad how people only remember the theme from seasons 3-6 not the original theme which is somewhat catchy

It's not really as cut/dry as that. While the addition of the kids to the original show did change a bit of direction at times (there were baby characters to account for after all) there were still some more adult themed stories in the later seasons. "How to Pick A Fight with Your Wife Without Really Trying" really comes to mind. When the show got spinoffs on Saturday Morning, a bunch more was aimed not as serious, with exceptions of the 80s and 90s specials.
But it's just in some cases you see people complaining WWE and Flintstones have nothing to do with one another, yet the Flintstones historically had guest stars join the cast on an adventure. And Fred and Barney have gone to wrestling matches before. While most often it was boxing or "the fights", there were indeed episodes where wrestling came into the plot before this movie.
And some of the other minor stuff. Like people seem to forget Mel Blanc's pre car accident voice, which is what the VA in this movie was imitating.
Or disliking the scene where Wilma surprises Fred with her new bikini, even though that scene is a homage to an highly similar scene where Wilma did that back in the original series.
Another being how this movie updates the technology of nowdays. Some people acting like it's unnatural to see stone-age "tablets", even though of course the Flintstones 90s movies already introduced prehistoric computer gags over a decade ago.
I guess in some cases it comes down to me being a nerd for these shows to the point that I recognize a lot of these things as what they are, but others i guess only have a smaller memory and prefer to "complain first, think later" and in some cases really end up sounding like hypocrites.
I've watched this new feature twice now. Like I said is it the perfect new Flintstones template, no. It has some wiggle room, but after all new Scooby isn't as good as old Scooby. New tom and Jerry isn't as a good as old Tom and Jerry. So I guess i'm not surprised this movie plays the same to me. It's fair as it is, not as good as the old Flintstones, but I applaud it as it is. And I hope people also see it like that as if WB gets more chances to make more new Flintstones movies they might very well get even better with practice.

While not confirmed on Warner's front but news reported today from PwInsider would seem the odds are looking good this one did well enough, and even with the 2nd Scooby crossover not yet finished, they are attempting to plot a Jetsons/WWE crossover. And I guess because it's become a prerogative, no this would not be the first time a Jetsons episode had wrestling as a part of the plot either as it was for Scooby doo or the Flintstones

the flintstones was a benchmark in animated shows- it was the first primetime animated series, but its spinoffs- pebbles and bammbamm, for instance, werent very good. and live action films were terrible.

I liked all the spinoffs except for On The Rocks. That and the live action movies are the only Flintstones material i don't like.

The casting in the first live-action movie redeemed it for me. That second one stunk to high heaven.
