Vikings were first used here, and only once more in "Scooby the Barbarian". As both episodes turned out OK, I'd like to see more Viking episodes in the future.

I enjoyed this one a lot (but then again, pretty much every episode of Season 2 was great in my opinion). I liked the viking ghosts. I didn't like that they used the same vikings in 'Scooby the Barbarian' though.

I just checked, and aside from the one having red eyes in this one, they're the same down to the exact detail!

Watching some winter related and Christmas episodes recommended by a friend so watched this one too! Nice! The massage Scooby and Shaggy had in store for that viking was really fun!!

This is one of my favorite episodes as well. From any season actually. Just wish it would finally come to DVD, along with the other stragglers from this season.

I wish vikings were used more. But this episode's solution is spoiled in the iTunes description!

Enjoyable episode. Seeing the gang go up against some vikings was nice, and the designs of the vikings themselves were pretty cool.

It turns out this episode also has two different cuts, just like Vampire Bats and Scaredy Cats: Somehow, the unfinished version ended up as the local syndication copy in the '80s, and the old video master still played on Teletoon over in Canada as late as last year. Music comparison: Ending comparison (side by side):

This is a VERY good episode. Perfect start to what might have to be the most consistently great season of Scooby Doo ever made. Season 2 is just excellent and this is a highlight and one of the better ones

Yes, Matt, I also tend to agree with that. There's something about those eight episodes (in general) that makes that season feel somewhat darker than usual. Incidentally, I wonder if Chorake (for instance) could make a nice compilation of all (?) those moments when Scooby shapeshifted to resemble the MOTW. Those screenshots reminded me to ask.

I really don't know why they feel so much darker, but I am glad they do. I feel like a couple of factors might be the obvious darker animation, but I'm going to suggest maybe the background music has something to do with it. Whatever it is, I love the atmosphere in those episodes. I really wish they made more episodes like these and I also wish they weren't so often neglected

I concur with your opinion. Perhaps, as they are only 8 episodes, WB is unwilling to release a set only for them? Who knows.

Plot: Another great episode. I like the Viking mystery and the quest for Velma's uncle. I also remember that the opening scene scared my younger self a lot, so there is a strong sense of nostalgia there. 9.5/10
Set Up: The Viking Lake was interesting, but the real deal was the cave with the secret doors and the ceremony hall. The setting made this episode really creepy. 9/10
Villains: The Vikings are some of my favorite antagonists in the series. They scared me as a kid being there and lurking in the dark. The red eyes were a cool design addition. 9/10
Final Score: 9.2/10
