The plot was fantastic, and so were the villains. The theme of an underground city really appealed to me. Definitely on my favorites list.

Ah...I vaguely remember this one. The heme of an underground city also appealed to me, which is why I remembered it more prominently than other episodes. I'll have to go back and watch it again soon!

One more vote for the awesome underground city, though it looked unrealistic, but it is an animated show after all. I can't imagine if such a thing existed in real life, that would be so amazing. They could have done a better job with the demons, but they were ok too.

I like this one a bit. The underground setting is cool, the design of the demon is vcool, and the way the gang catches the villain is a bit different from the usual Scooby-Doo formula. They actually spot him out of costume and chase them, and then have to unmask his human disguise. Pretty neat, I gotta admit.

The underground city is one of my favorite settings. I really like this one a lot it is one of those that gets better every time I watch it. I just really love the creativity that goes into a lot of episodes in this incarnation

This was the very first Scooby-Doo episode I saw as a kid! I was seven years old and already a fan of Cartoon Network, and one evening I tuned in as this episode was running, and my dad watched with me. At first I thought the titular demon was rather intimidating, but my dad reassured me that the demon was only someone in a costume, and that got me more interested (as at that age I enjoyed the idea of pretending to be ghosts and monsters). Then later on when Albert Tross showed up among the gang following the demon's trail to the hotel basement, my dad pointed out that he had been the one dressing up as the demon. Then I was in for an even bigger surprise when Albert was unmasked to reveal Sam Crenshaw, showing that he had been wearing two disguises at once! And I've been a Scooby-Doo fan ever since.
Also, that part at the waterfront when a rat's shadow spooks Scooby, the rat's design is the same as Templeton from Hanna-Barbera's animated adaptation of "Charlotte's Web" from a few years earlier! I know H-B frequently reused designs, but really? Templeton the Rat as well?

Plot: The very first episode of Scooby Doo I've ever watched. I enjoyed the demon myth and the long-lost city underground, but it had more chasing than necessary, so I got a little bit bored. It has a special place in my heart, but I cannot say it is one of my favorites. 8/10
Set Up: The idea of a secret underground city was great. It is definitely one of the most memorable settings in the series. 9/10
Villain: The demon had a great and spooky design. I liked his wierd sounds and the ledgend behind him. The handprints he was leaving were a cool and creepy addition. 9/10
Final Score: 8.5/10
