It's like he's been injected by some huge altering force to make him fit a different set of expectations despite what always seemed to work and still does, but that wouldn't be the.....oh wait. Yes, yes he was.
Bur on a less preachy note, my first thought was somewhere there's a x-men laughing at that. It's like Scooby from a strange alternate future like you often see in their stories.

Rather than Scooby he looks like 'One Stupid Courage the Cowardly Dog'.
If anything should be killed prior to release, it might be this. But, they learn through more and more experamenting, don't mess with Scooby

Hey YouDontKnowSponge!! Just read some comments on a video with all of the Scooby intros.
I liked Scrappy but look what he did in the live-action movie! He was arrested!

One possibility that we're not considering is that this is like the into animation to the films which have some very different renditions of the gang than to how they appear in the films e.g. For Big Top the intro showed the gang like this Where they actually looked like this

The problem is it looks too much like a production design from existing CN Drek.

He looks like he was drawn by the same people who made cow and chicken. I know people wanted that style back but not like this.......

This series just hasn't been the same since it fell into WB's hands. Scooby isn't the same anymore. Comparing the old with the new, the old shows are far superior. The new shows aren't anything like the classics and it's as if they are completely different shows. Sure, I enjoyed "What's New" and "Mystery Incorporated", but they aren't the Scooby I know and love.

The series changed through its time under HB, but still had "the spirit" of Scooby. Even the first four movies were great change and would have been an awesome series. But, things just went downhill after that. It just doesn't "feel" like Scooby anymore. It's as if it's a different cartoon wearing a Scooby disguise.
